Preferred devices ZWAVE or ZIGBEE

To members,

To users:

What do you prefer to use Z-EWave o5r Zigbee

Zwave is more stable but also more expensive.

I’m “budget driven” and I chose zigbee. Similar z-wave devices were 2 to 3 times more expensive 5 years ago, so I just didn’t even consider it.
I decided to use zigbee2mqtt after experimenting with it, and it’s here to stay. It’s rock solid, and has an impressive set of tools and possibilities.
It works with most (cheap) zigbee stuff, if not, new devices are added almost right away. Homey is less flexible: do search the app store carefully before purchasing specific devices.

You’ll need to be aware the wifi 2.4GHz signal (of your and your neighbour’s gear) uses the same frequency band as zigbee (and Threat), so it’s possible you’ll have to tune the channels of both.
At least fix the wifi 2.4GHz channel to preferrably 1, 6 or 11, before adding a first zigbee device to Homey (it will find a proper channel to use).

Z-wave has more (serious) security possibilities, but for me zigbee is secure enough.

I’m also under the impression there’s a (much) wider range of zigbee enabled products available.

Started with Z-Wave and the budget side of me switched to Zigbee.

Zigbee, works so good for me!
