Unable to update Third Reality battery devices with OTA update feature? Says Wake your device to start the update process how do I do that and keep it awake to do the update? Working great with all my constant power Devices.
Normally via the physical button on the device.
Updating my Third Reality battery devices also took a long time. I kept getting the message that the update would only start when the device woke up. The physical button did not fix that. In the end, my devices suddenly started updating during the night. So maybe waiting helps.
What I do find strange is that there is no option to cancel the update. Because one device takes an extremely long time to update, other devices cannot be updated either due to the queue.
What I have discovered over the past few days trying to update my Third Reality devices. Non battery devices can be added into the que to be updated one after another. So I had about 15 devices waiting to be updated. Battery devices need to be processed one at a time. Secondly I found for those devices that are waiting for the device to awake, I remove the battery for about 10 seconds and reinstall and that seems to wake up the device for the install to begin. I had one button device that for some reason the system did not recognize it needed an update. I happen to own the Third Reality Zigbee hub, so I put the device into pairing mode and then added it to the TR Hub and did the update. Then I did a repair on device in Homey and now button device is back fully updated. I guess I could have tried putting the device into pairing mode and did a repair on the device to see if that would have trigged that an update was needed. Oh well. All devices have now been updated and in the future for updates should be much easier since it won’t be all devices at one time. It looks like the updates will not happen automatically or that there is an option to turn on automatic updates? Anyone come up with a flow to notify if an update is needed on a device or do you just periodically check. I was thinking of just adding a once a month calendar reminder. That’s my story.
Homey does not currently offer an option to auto update devices.
There is no flowcard available (yet) that triggers when an update becomes available. So you’ll have to check manually.
