It’s still in beta.
This might help though:
For battery operated devices, first wake up the device by pressing the pair button briefly, then start the update process ánd keep pressing the pair button briefly every other second, to keep the device awake

The button-trick didn’t do it. It’s a matter (pun intended) of repeating the update until the unit’s update-percentage gets to 100% and reboots.
