Hi there,
I have a Daikan Altherma heat pump, which is connected to two (basic) honeywell, battery powered, wireless thermostats.
I initially looked into hooking up the thermostats to homey but I don’t think that is possible since it is a fairly standard model (I didn’t get to choose them since I got a, newly build ‘project’, apartment) and would either require a whole hub with screen from Honeywell itself to function or plainly doesn’t work as a smart device.
As such I was wondering whether I can read out the temperature of a room by using the Onecta app instead (the info on the homey website isn’t entirely clear about that). Does anyone have any experience with that?
Hi Roel, the Daikin Onecta App is able to show the temperature of the room where Daikin thermostat is located. Since you don’t have that setup I don’t think it will be possible.
Are you sure that the thermostat needs to be Daikin branded? Couldn’t it be enough for the Altherma to just have a data source for the temperature as long as the thermostat has a protocol that the Altherma can understand? (which is the case here as the Honeywell thermostat can send data to and receive data from the Altherma, the Honeywell communicates the temparature to it and sends back the temperature setting it is set at for that room). In my mind it stands to reason for that to be the case.
Though the question I asked was more along the lines of whether the onecta homey app can act on temperature information to start and/or stop flows, originating from the altherma through the Homey Onecta intergration app.
I suppose you answered that (It can, right?).
The Honeywell could work, but in that case you would not need anything extra to receive that temperature in the app.
Yes, I have several flows that change settings of the Atherma III as a result of temperature, power use etc.
