I am interested on Homey. The main question I have.
Once I purchased this product, do I need to buy any other products or any of the hops or this will be the main hub for all other devices like Philips hue Akara IKEA smart things.
At the moment, I have the car hub in Phillips Q for us. I’m thinking about adding some smart products. My main concern is having way too many hubs so with this product, I can avoid buying any other hubs?
I assume you are considering a Homey Pro or Mini.
It’s better to think of for what purpose/devices you plan to use a Homey and then check whether those devices are supported. For several connection types (like Zigbee) Homey needs to have an ‘app’ (integration) to support the brand and specific model. You can check Homey’s app store for which brands/models are supported.
If there is no app, then there typically is no or only limited support (like basic switch on/off functionality via Zigbee). Matter (over Thread/WiFi) devices don’t require an app. However support may limited to what is included in the Matter specs and only that part that Athom implemented. Brands may offer extra functionality via their mobile apps. So you might want to check this forum for user experiences on such devices.
Further, Athom provides Best Buy Guides with a selection of products that are supposed to be supported by Homey.
So, depending on your use-case Homey might be the single hub you need or you might need additional other solutions.
