Nuki bridge needed?

Do I need the Nuki bridge to pair the Nuki smart lock pro (5th gen) to Homey, or can I connect it without this extra bridge?

I just installed the new Ultra. I do not know if this is the 5 gen.
It works great without bridge. Was connected in minutes (make sure you create a Nuki web account first).

The ultra is the higher priced full replacement brother of the pro gen 5.

Did you connect it using Wifi or Thread?

I guess when connected through Matter-over-Thread you don’t need a Nuki web account?

I used the Homey Nuki app. So I am not sure if it is mattter. I did need the Nuki account , otherwise I did not see an new device.

I remember reading somewhere (I think it was in the best buy guide) that directly pairing was only possilbe using Wifi and that thread required the bridge.
Though I could be mistaken.

True for older models, but the latest lock models don’t need a bridge anylonger.
Locks with Matter support are available with older models as well, which also omits the need for a bridge.
I’ve a gen. 4 lock paired with Matter via Home Assistant+Google Hub Thread border router, and via MQTT, no bridge here.

Then I assume directly pairing a gen 5 with matter over thread should be possible as well.

Sorry, I just edited my post. Forgot to mention the lock is Matter connected to Home Assistant.
But, that shouldn’t mean it won’t work with Homey Matter. It supports locks.
