Hi

I’m trying to write a flow to turn on an outside light.

I enter when: the sun sets ( here I need to enter a numeric value)

Then: it’s here I’m having trouble because I can’t find the device that has been entered.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks

Glenn

I assume you have already paired you light with Homey.

When you tap on the Add card button in the flow’s THEN section, a screen pops up, in which you need to select the device.

You can either navigate via the Zones section to the zone in which you places the light:

Or scroll down to the App section and select the app that you used to pair the light (note: not all devices require an app, such as Matter devices and those paired as a generic Zigbee/Z-Wave device):

After selecting your light, you see the available flowcards, like turn on/off the light.

Hi Sunbeach,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my post.

I have paired a generic sensor and on/ off switch but they don’t show up in the then sequence. So they don’t have apps. Can I assign generic apps to these so they will show up when creating a flow?

Thanks

Glenn

You’re welcome. Then you have to use the Zones-route. All devices are placed into a zone.

You should find your light in the zone that you placed in during the pairing process.

If you skipped that step, then the light is placed in the highest level zone (Home or comparable). In my screenshot above it’s called ‘Thuis’, which is Dutch for Home.

Hi Sunbeech,

I know which zone I put them in but how do I find the devices using zones for use in flows

After you tap/click the option to add a WHEN / AND / THEN card, the flow cards window pops-up.

It is divided into two categories: Zones & Devices and Apps. In the Zones & Devices section (top part of the screen) the top element of your zones hierarchy is shown (e.g. My Home).

If you tap/click on that item you get to the next level of sub-zones. This way you browse to the zone in which you placed the device.

Once you reach your device, there you will also find the flowcards related to your device.

Thanks so much for that. Now it makes sense. Thank you
