I have the Homey Pro 2026 and run 5 apps with 25 devices. (2) matter plugs and (23) zigbee devices. My total used memory is 915mb.
My question is would the Homey Mini be able to run this since it only has 1gb of RAM.
The decision I’m trying to make is if I downgrade to the Mini I could save a bit of money, like $300.
My future growth is probably another 15 devices. I don’t see myself using z-wave or IR, BLE, since I’ve standardized on ZB and Matter
From all the posts I’ve seen, it sounds like I should be able to support upwards of 40-50 devices.
thanks
Yes, it should be able to. I have more apps and devices on a Homey Pro 2019 which has the same amount of RAM as the Homey Pro mini, so you should be fine with the Mini.
More devices usually don’t cause increase of RAM use. It’s mainly the apps using up RAM.
Your assumption is a bit besides reality, Sven.
You can’t compare the amount of RAM apps are using with the Pro 2019 & Pro Mini just 1-on-1.
Apps on the Pro 202x / Mini (same platform and firmware), tend to use waaaay more memory, plus the “Homey” and “Other” processes use way more RAM.
Indication:
Pro 2026
(I may hope both “Homey” and “Other” processes use less RAM on a Pro Mini. Apps probably will use a bit less in general)
Pro 2019
@Bill_Weiss Different apps don’t use the same amount of RAM, it can vary a lot:
Matter Bridge app: 150MB
Broadlink app: 20MB
So it depends on which app you use. Unfortunately you’ll have to test yourself, there’s no indicator @ app store.
For some of the apps the RAM usage does grow when you install more (virtual) devices of such app.
You can reduce the number of apps by f.i. using less different brands, by using Matter devices (but I don’t recommend Matter at all), by using zigbee devices supported by the generic driver.
Here’s my app list to see the differences
(this is a 4GB RAM Pro 2026, everything will use a bit less with max 1GB RAM)
