Hi everyone,
As you may have noticed, I am building apps for many cheap Bluetooth LED strips. My goal is to make every single Bluetooth LED strip comatible with Homey.
However, I can no longer find any cheap unsupported LED strips. All of them are already supported or can’t be added.
That’s why I’m asking the community for help: if you find any Bluetooth LED strip under €20 that’s not yet supported, please let me know!
Requirements:
- Protocol: Bluetooth or WiFi
- Available in the Netherlands (preferably Amazon or Bol)
- Not yet supported by Homey
Limitations:
- BanlanX: I’m already working on it but it appears to be very hard (maybe impossible) to reverse engineer due to the way the app was built
- Briturn: is the same as Surplife, which is already supported. Unfortunately I already ordered the bulbs before I noticed they were the same.
- Surplife (BLE): very difficult to reverse engineer due to how the app was built. Use the official Surplife app for Homey for the WiFi devices
- BRMesh/BRLight/Voicelife: these bulbs appear to use a special protocol or method where the phone sends a Bluetooth advertisement that the bulb acts on. The mobile app doesn’t connect to the bulb in a regular way, so this one can’t be added to Homey
If you find any unsupported Bluetooth (or WiFi) LED strip that meets these criteria, please let me know! All LED strip on Amazon seem to be already supported by one of my apps.
Also, if you bought any LED strip on Amazon.nl <€20 that isn’t supported on Homey, I will buy it and add support (except for those listed in “Limitations” of course).
You can’t always trust the app shown in the screenshot of the Amazon listing, I bought one LED strip with the “illumi Home” app shown in the screenshot and another one with “MohuanLED”, but both of them just used a Lotus controller, which is already supported.
