I only realized now that a local user can only have local access by a webbrowser… This means that you CANNOT give a user “local” acces by the homey app…? Am I correct? Thanks for your replies!
Indeed. Not possible. As in, not yet possible (I may hope).
Tnx for your quick reply.. For me a bit disappointing, the Homey is used in a second residence where internet is developing . So regular interruptions and therefore I was very interested.
No problem, Carlo.
Ah, I was responding to the new additional “local account access” feature for the web app (which is not avaliable (yet) for the mobile app).
Regular internet interrupts shouldn’t be a problem with the mobile app, when keeping this in mind:
The mobile app needs internet twice a month at minimum to check on authentication (AFAIK).
Homeys internal clock needs to sync with an online timeserver after (re)starting.
AFAIK you can use the mobile app, with the usual Athom accounts without internet, for as long as it doesn’t need to check on your authentication.
When your session is ended, you’d wait for internet to be up again before you can access the mobile app again.
The mobile app’s general system settings show whether you’re connected locally or through cloud; when connected to wifi, it always should show local:
Well, I bought a tablet that stays in the house, with an user (tablet..
)on it, and the Homey app is started in ‘Kiosk-mode’. Very handy, everything works… if there is internet. I just checked : I removed the fiber cable of my modem and the tablet was NOT able to do anything anymore…
First make sure if it’s locally connected, Carlo. Then you should be able to pull the internet cable. Don’t pull LAN cables ![]()
Hi @Carlo_Veraart1 ,
on my tablet I managed to start the web access in the browser (I have not tried local user yet). Not everything works well, as I do not have a mouse, but at least I can see the advanced flows, without running to the computer.
I think it is worth a try.
Regards Dirk
But the web app can’t show the dash, Dirk?
@Carlo_Veraart1 I tested again, to make sure it still works as it always did, and unplugged the WAN cable. So, TV, Spotify and everything stopped working,
but still the Homey app could reach Homey and was fully functional.
Only difference: I use a Pro 2019 , but O cannot think of how that would be different concerning app < - > Homey communications.
I did connect the app before pulling out the internet cable (I disconnected the fiber cable in my case). The local user IS WORKING by the browser… but in the browser I cannot have the Kiosk mode. I use the Kiosk mode for the clients…
Of course you connected the app first, but what I tried to explain was, you should check in system settings if Homey shows “local” connected. Because it (still) can be cloud connected.
Only if it’s “local” connected for sure you can pull the internet cable
ok, i did not check that…. Next time i am there i will. Can be that… THANK YOU!
