Lighting Query

So my new house has some very odd wiring choices. I am not in a hurry to entirely rewire the house (that would be a huge task even to just fix this oddness)

Currently We’ve a double switch in the kitchen.

1 of them controls the ceiling lights, and im happy with these being as they are.

the second however, controls under counter lighting, cabinet lighting and oddly enough, the exterior lighting in both the front and back gardens.

My plan is to replace the outdoor light bulbs with smart bulbs of some sort for seasonal lighting, so these are ok staying as they are, but i wish to seperate the controls of the cabinet lights.

The idea i have in my head is to put a Shelly 1 Gen 3 before each of the 4 lights in and under cabinets my question is - will these be able to function without a switch wired to them? (i know they would remain powered by the switch that currently turns them on but this would be covered to prevent swtich off anyway.

I all ways say, make your switching auto/inteligent/ and normal use (on/off)
And use normal bulbs.
Then you can better automate your home.

If I was to do over the lighting I would convert the switch to smart switches and leave the light bulbs as they are. This allows manual control of lights even when the automation hub is offline for any reason.

To answer your question directly, yes the Shelly devices work just fine without a physical switch wired to them.

If you could fit a single Shelly behind the switch to control them all together and then wire the physical switch to it then even better but you need both sufficient space and a neutral wire behind the switch for that to work.

Sadly this wouldnt work in my “fucked up wiring situation” haha
