Hue Matter devices randomly not available

Hello,

I have several Hue devices (light bulby, motion sensors, and buttons) integrated in Homey through Matter. Meaning, connecting the Hue Bridge via Matter.

I am noticing that, randomly, once or twice a day, all devices are becoming unaivalable. Homey and the Hue bridge is running fine and can still control directly connected devices. After some time the devices are becoming available again.

Is anyone experiencing a similar issue?

Hi there,

Yes, I have experienced the same issue when using hue devices via matter integration with homey. In my case, the issue was related to network stability and how the matter protocol handles connection drops.

Here is what helped me resolve it:

  • Ensure both Homey and the Hue Bridge are on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network , Some users have seen random dropouts when devices are split between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
  • Assign static IPs to both Homey and the Hue Bridge through your router settings. This helps maintain a stable connection and avoid issues when IP addresses change.
  • Disable IPv6 temporarily on your network if it is enabled. Some setups report better stability over IPv4.
  • Reboot both devices and perform a fresh Matter pairing after making any network changes.

Since doing this, my Hue devices have stayed consistently available. Hope it helps in your case too.

Let us know if that solves it or if you find another workaround, would be good for others to know too.

cheers

For me this is working perfect, without any issues at all.
I have all bridges connected over LAN.

Good hints. My bridges (Homey and Hue) are connected via LAN and they both get a static IP from the DHCP server. Rebooting was done a few times. I did not try to disable ipv6, but this setup was running for over a year seamlessly.

What I also noticed that once of my Ikea Zigbee buttons was not working when this error occurred. But I was not able to reproduce that or check if other devices were impacted also.

I will continue to monitor it.
