I’m running one of the initial batches of the HP23. Recently, the CPU has randomly spiked to 800%, causing several crashes and a blinking red LED with no changes on devices and flow. I suspect the hardware (emmc) is starting to fail.
I’m considering this a good opportunity to back up the system and replace the board with a new CM4. Could anyone advise which CM4 model is currently recommended for this mod, and point me to the most up-to-date guide for the replacement?
If I would do it again, I would go for CM4108016 or CM4108032 - the guide Dijker shared is still the best you would get / if anything it’s not true anymore, feel free to comment.
I got a CM4108032 modul for a decent price and I tried to replace it today. However, it seems that my thermal pads stuck on the raspbi board and not on the alu heatsink. I wasn’t able to move them to the new board without damaging. So I left everything as it was inserted the old board again.
To try it again, I need new thermal pads. Any hints what I should buy?
I also changed the cm4 today for a 8gb /32 gb and i take the thermal pad of with a nife put it on the new cm4 together with heat paste from my 3d printer.
So correct me if im wrong because ive been following this, desperately clinging on to what memory i have left in my HO2023 and underwhelmed with the update of the 2026 but now maybe…. with SHS we can buy any type of PI or nas ir Linux we want and make it as powerful as we need to run homey. No more jailbreak or mess.
Can use the HP2023 or a Homey bridge for the antenna and its done?
