That is what I did. I tried both options, but in both cases “Unknown Zigbee Device”. 
It should work indeed.
Try the latest app version please: Tuya Zigbee | Homey
YES, with this version it pairs properly and it now shows metering value!
Hope the rest will still work as this is a test version of Tuya Zigbee, but so far everything else seems to work.
