Thank you. I’m new to Homey and unfamiliar with its idiosyncrasies. Appreciate the feedback.

Hi, I have been planning how to deal with potential performance and reliability consequences of SHS on Synology. Homey Pro as dedicated platform optimised for low latency and high-frequency I/O SHS on Synology (x86) optimised for (shared) general-purpose computing, storage, and virtualization I’ve discovered several variables that could affect performance (my old DS918+ 8GB has Celeron CPU with 4 cores/4 threads/1.5Ghz-2.3 Ghz, cache 2MB L2, so only slightly faster than HP R-Pi CM4). Compete for memory (assuming 8GB) Container Manager (best on SSD if you can): High-frequency, random I/O Lower priority for Downloads (eg. NZBget) In container settings, set CPU low, hard memory limit to 1024MB each. High priority for SHS Project YAML configuration: CPI to high priority (weight 2048), hard memory limit to eg. 3072MB, soft memory limit to 2048MB services: homey-shs: image: ghcr.io/athombv/homey-shs:latest container_name: homey-shs restart: unless-stopped network_mode: host privileged: true # Added CPU Priority and Deploy Memory Resources cpu_shares: 2048 volumes: - ./:/homey/user deploy: resources: reservations: memory: 2100M limits: memory: 3000M Compete for storage, disk I/O (examples) Container Manager: You can consider moving one container to another volume than SHS Surveillance Station (best on HDD): High-frequency, sequential writes. Multiple pools: write to a different storage pool than SHS: Set camera recording storage pool to another volume One pool: use shared folder quotas to prevent SS from filling the entire drive and leaving no room for Container Manager or download I would love to hear of your experience with SHS on Synology. Any hick-ups? Tips welcome.

[image] Marc_Jurriens: Not all dongles are equal, the homey bridge is propriety Athom and so is the homey software so they way they work together is optimal… If you go for home assistant there is a larger plethora of different types of dongles you can use (and have to maintain). It’s a choice. Which is why HA also has its own set of dongles. [image] Marc_Jurriens: installing the bridge is 2 seconds and it just works. Another reason to use something other than the Bridge is because it’s outdated. It’s Zigbee chip cannot handle more than about 15 devices before instability can occur, for instance.

The aforementioned issue with saving flows when my NAS was backing up. I have a DS 224+ for reference. I’m now running the SHS add-on for Home Assistant instead and it’s been problem free. Very happy with the performance. No issues with Homey or HA since installation.

[image] Homey Self-Hosted Server on Home Assistant OS | Megathread Homey Self-Hosted Server In this thread we can discuss running Homey Self-Hosted Server on Home Assistant OS via Add-ons. Installation You can find all info on the GitHub repo I’ve created here Known Limitations None at this moment. Only the how is not officially supported by Athom, but it’s published and maintained by Athom’s Abe a.k.a. Doekse.

homey-shs/DOCS.md main # Home Assistant Community Add-on: Homey Self-Hosted Server This add-on allows you to run [Homey Self-Hosted Server](https://homey.app) within your Home Assistant OS installation, providing a self-hosted alternative to the cloud-based Homey hub. Homey Self-Hosted Server is a software-only product based on the operating system powering [Homey Pro](https://homey.app/homey-pro/). You host Homey Self-Hosted Server yourself, on your own hardware. You'll need to install and maintain it to keep it online and up to date. Out of the box, it supports devices that connect over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Cloud, and Matter. Matter-over-Thread also works if you already have a Thread Border Router in your home. To add Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth LE, 433 MHz, or Infrared devices, simply connect a [Homey Bridge](https://homey.app/homey-bridge/) to unlock those wireless technologies — no USB sticks required. ## Installation The installation of this add-on is pretty straightforward and not different in comparison to installing any other Home Assistant add-on. 1. Click the Home Assistant My button below to open the add-on on your Home Assistant instance. Did anyone update their SHS yet? [image] Homey Self-Hosted Server Changelog | Homey The installation manual mentions it should be done through Container Manager (I normally update my Docker containers by re-pulling the latest image with Portainer or Dockhand). But Homey has a built-in option (in the app or by local access) too: [f3d585b3-b7d4-4ec2-b8c6-1c94741afd85-1_all_15694] Did anyone try this? Is this safe to use? And did anyone manage to update by Portainer or Dockhand perhaps?

Funny Henk, we both talked about this topic before ;-): [image] Homey Self-Hosted Server on Synology | Megathread Homey Self-Hosted Server How do I update the homey environment on a synology? With the cloud link My Homey I get no update button: [image] With the local link I get an update button and an error: [image] With the smartphone app I get a button which leads to the general support site. My experience is that this update option doesen’t work at all with the SHS-Synology constellation. The Docker project from Athom with the bulid option does the job of downloading the latest version installing the image and buliding the container. But the steps of stopping and deleteing the old configuration manually is a little bit annoying.

I try to install the app ‘Afval herinnering’ but I cannot find in my Self-Hosted Server. Is it possible that the app is available for Pro or Cloud but not for the Homey Self-Hosted Server?
