Homey Pro 2019 + IKEA DIRIGERA Hub: Setup Guide
Connect your IKEA smart home devices to a Homey Pro (early 2019) through the IKEA DIRIGERA hub, using the DIRIGERA Hub Gateway app on Homey.
What you need
- Homey Pro (2019)
- IKEA DIRIGERA hub
- Router with a free LAN port and a network cable
- IKEA Home smart app on your phone
- DIRIGERA Hub Gateway app from the Homey App Store
CAUTION: the DIRIGERA hub and the Homey must be on the same network.
Part 1: Set up the DIRIGERA hub
- Take the DIRIGERA hub out of the box.
- Connect it to your router with the network cable. (Make sure this is the same network as your Homey.)
- Follow the setup procedure of the DIRIGERA hub.
- Install the IKEA Home smart app on your phone.
- Add all your devices to the DIRIGERA hub using the normal procedure in the IKEA Home smart app.
Part 2: Connect Homey to the DIRIGERA hub
- If not already done, connect your Homey to the same network as the DIRIGERA hub.
- Install the DIRIGERA Hub Gateway app on your Homey Pro 2019.
- Go to the app page in Homey and press the gear icon. This opens the settings page.
- On the settings page, press Search, then press the action button on the DIRIGERA hub (the button on the bottom of the hub).
- After a short while it should display “Connection successful”. If it does not, double check that both devices are on the same network.
Note: repeat step 9 whenever the IP address of the DIRIGERA hub changes. See the tips below for a way to prevent this.
Part 3: Add your devices to Homey
- In Homey, go to “Add device” and select the DIRIGERA Hub Gateway app.
- Add one of the devices you already paired with the DIRIGERA hub.
- Done. You can now control your IKEA devices from Homey, and use them in Flows.
Tips and troubleshooting
- Prevent the IP problem for good. Give the DIRIGERA hub a fixed IP address with a DHCP reservation in your router settings. The IP then never changes, so you never have to redo the search and pair step.
- Same network really means same network. Homey and the DIRIGERA hub must be on the same subnet. A guest network, a separate VLAN, or client isolation on your router will block discovery.
- Hub not found when searching? Check that the hub is wired to the router, confirm Homey is on the same network, and press the action button right after starting the search.
- Device missing in Homey? A device must first be added to the DIRIGERA hub via the IKEA Home smart app. Only then can Homey see it through the gateway app.
- Connection stopped working later? First check whether the DIRIGERA hub got a new IP address. If so, run the search and action button pairing again (or set up the DHCP reservation above and pair one last time).
