Homey Pro (2016—2019) v12.9.0-rc.4 has been released to the beta channel.
Apps
- Increases allowed memory usage.
- Updates Node.js version to v22.20.0 (learn more).
Yes, that will definitely help! Glad it’s finally happening, also the Increased allowed memory usage is very welcome!
Issue below might be just a coincidence.
A little warning:
After installing v12.9.0-rc.4 on my test Homey Pro (Early 2019) ‘homey4d’ yesterday, all seemed fine.
But, after installing it on my main Homey Pro (Early 2019) ‘homey3d’:
Bigger issue: it won’t start in recovery anymore.
(reported to Support)
Wow, that’s what you call a bummer, @Peter_Kawa.
Hope you (or Athom) finds a way to get it up and running again.
Thanks! Yeah it was a bit stupid of me to install the RC on my main Homey: I don’t have a test Homey for nothing, do I ![]()
But because it ran fine with the RC update I didn’t see much risk.
Nothing I know gets it into recovery or online, it most probably needs a reflash (here or at your hometown).
Let’s hope that brings it to life again! ![]()
I just restored the main Homey backup to the HFKATH (Homey formerly known as test Homey), I’m back in business.
Because “Experimental updates” was still enabled, v12.9.0-rc.4 was installed and it runs fine.
Only all apps lacked, I had to install all apps myself ![]()

Homey Pro (2016—2019) v12.9.0-rc.5 has been released to the beta channel.
Apps
- Reverts increased allowed memory usage per app.
- Improves handling of apps that use excessive memory.
Unfortunately, we noticed that the increase in allowed memory usage by Homey Apps resulted in issues for some users. Therefore, the increase has been reverted to ensure stability and a reliable experience for all users.
They’ve managaged to fix it, by installing the firmware again with some secret tool hehe ![]()
