Homey Energy — Public Beta Megathread

Fair arguments, you’re right.

How do you do you use meross plugs to track collected energy from panels?

Hi!
I only use what we in germany call balcony solar power stations. Normally a pack of two panels plugged to a very small inverter. So each inverter has it own normal power plug and between this plug and the power socket at the wall I placed the Meross power plugs that are set to monitor ‘collecting power’ via Meross iOS app. In homey I added these plugs as solar collectors and thus I imagine I can see them in the energy tab.

Oh got it, in Finland its not allowed to olug solar panels directly to wall outlet. I have fronius inverter myself and im figuring out how i can get information to homey from there.

Anybody encounter similar problem?

I have a single garage light that seems to consume most of the energy in my house. In the original energy tab, the consumption is displayed correctly, and the device itself show energy consumption correctly, but Homey energy thinks different. Any ideas why this happens? Annoying bug…

The energy tab is using the meter_power capability - that shold only be increasing. Can you please check the insights of your device if the caoability gets reset sometimes? If it goes back to 0 and then back to previous value, ist will cause Homey to read this as daily usage.

So I think it’s caused by the device.

I’ve experienced the same. For two of my devices the capability meter_power is the total amount of used energy. I don’t have the option to reset the capability (at least could not find an option within de device flow).

I will try implementing a workaround using a virtual device.

If the device updates with 0 sometimes and you are pushing all updates to a virtual device, this won’t fix the issue. Can you see drops in insights chart?

There is no reset since i start using the device. My idea was to make an enhanced virtual device with a meter_power entry. At 00:00 i store the kWh value within a variable. And on kWh change of the original device i calculate the amount of used watts.

I exclude the original device from energy and hope that my enhanced virtual device will show up in the energy tab because of its meter_power value.

Don’t know if it will work, but it’s an easy experiment to check ot out.

Or try PowerByTheHour app. But that are only workarounds.
You can use the “power meter changed” trigger and compare with the previous value (stored in a variable) if there is value between that’s smaller than the previous one.

The device itself works as it supposed to be. Device total is different from what Homey energy shows. I’ve been trying to find where that total amount of 24,6 kWh comes from, but I can’t find it. Device is Aqara switch and the total can’t be reset.

What I tried to say is, that if the device reports a 0 value in between, the following can/will happen:

Today starts at: 1kWh

1 kWh
1.1 kWh
1.2 kWh
0
1.3 kWh

= 0.2kWh + 1.3kWh
= 1.5 kWh (that would be shown in Homey instead of the real 0.3 kWh.

Is there an option to enter a different return delivery cost? It seems the current cost is calculated on the nett use (import-export) but the export earnings might be lower than the import costs.

Hi!

How is a home battery supposed to show in the new energy dashboard? Currently the supplier of the Victron community plugin supports battery in the latest test versions and makes “measure_power” available from the home battery.

The house picture in my Energy tab shows the battery on the wall and the cable animations correctly shows charging and discharging state.

My question is how the solar panels charge in kW ends up on the house data field even though the battery has been charged and the house hasn’t consumed anything of that - is this how its supposed to be presented or just that the correct logic hasnt been implemented yet?

Lets take today and compare with Victrons VRM portal. My house has drawn 31 Kwh from grid, the PV generated 11.5 kWh during the day and the consumption for the home is listed as 35.5 kWh for today in VRM. Homey lists my home as having consumed 42.2 kWh. Doesn’t feel right even though the Grid + PV = House in Homey Energy tab.

I would also like to know if the battery status is implemented in the Homey Energy dashboard. The screenshot shows the battery charge percentage and status, but I couldn’t find this information in my setup. I followed the documentation at Energy | Homey Apps SDK, but it only shows the battery in the image not the overall battery status like the first post screenshot. Could you clarify if this feature is available?

I like to know if anyone having problem with the reporting of Power usage.
Upto 18 februari it was OK, on the “top of the house” it reported the usage which I used from the supplier and the house, and on top of the graph of Electricty Total it displayed the values
But after that day the values are gone. At first I thought, ah Beta, it will be bach. But after 8 days it still is gone.
Anyone having the same problem?

By the way, I’m using the P1 meter of Youless

That was a mockup and it was explained in the Youtube video that battery and EV charger is still in development.
Don’t know if get more in future that already is visible. :man_shrugging:

I hope @Robin can give us some insights if/what is coming for both? :pray:t2:

Ah thank you for your reply. Have search the whole topic but did not check the Youtube video. Hope it will included in future updated because it looks great.

It’s nice to see the total consumption (imported - exported) from the house. But something that’s even more useful would be the internal use from the solar panels (total solar panels - exported).
With that captured/registered per day it would be easier to optimize future use from the solar panel.

@Robin just updated the ipad beta app and Homey to the latest version, but the names / values are not good anny more.

My EV is my bike charger, should be zero
