The Energy-tab is back! And it’s better than ever! :zap:

Welcome to the megathread for the all-new Energy-tab, which is currently in public beta. We’re set out the reimagine the energy experience within Homey, leveraging your existing devices in a completely new way.

Homey Energy helps you monitor your home’s realtime energy usage, and view historic data to compare between days, weeks, months and years.

Homey Energy can monitor electricity, gas & water. Dynamic electricity prices will become available in Q1 2025.

Homey Energy works best with the recently announced Homey Energy Dongle, but also works with a variety of 3rd party smart meters.

Requirements

  • Homey Pro (Early 2023) with v12.3.0 or later.
  • Homey Cloud support will become available soon.

Getting Started

Install the latest beta version of the Homey app (iOS & Android), and the all-new Energy-tab will appear.

FAQ

Do I need the Homey Energy Dongle?
You do not need the Homey Energy Dongle to use the Energy-tab in the Homey app. Third party smart meters may also work, but we cannot guarantee the same level of experience.

Is Energy available for Homey Pro (2016 — 2019)?
The new Energy features are not available for older generations of Homey Pro.

When will the Homey Energy Dongle ship?
The current timeline is that the Homey Energy Dongle will ship in March 2025.

I don’t see any historic data?
Your historic energy data will start logging once your Homey Pro has installed v12.3.0. Every day, week, month and year an energy report will be created.

So that’s why there wasn’t space for Dashboards in the tabs on mobile :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Just updated to the latest beta, but sadly the iOS crashes for me upon launch. I’ve sent the crash report :ok_hand:

Well just updated to the latest beta version but I won’t start and shows the homey logo for a while and then crashes.
Testflight version 9.1.0 (1638), unable to use on iPhone 15 Pro Max

Yes that is correct @Waldo, we couldn’t say earlier for obvious reasons :wink:

Thank you for informing about the crash, we are currently looking why the app is crashing for some people :+1:

Here the Homey app crashes too on Samsung Android 14 tablet and phone. I only updated the mobile app and not the beta 12.3.0 on the Homey.

Same for me, the app crashes after update. Removed and reinstalled, now it works but no energy tab. I have the beta app.

The Energy tab in my app stays empty, even though I have a P1 dongle connected and some Energy measuring plugs

Great new feature! Order placed!

The gas connection in my house has been removed and I don’t have a smart water meter, can I remove gas and water from the energie tab in the future?

And one totally unimported but cool feature, will we be able to somehow import an image of our own house, so we can make it our own?

I’ve got the homey beta app on my phone but I don’t want to enable experimental updates on my homey pro, do anyone knows when will it be live for the homey pro?
