Homey Dashboards | Megathread

Which location is used by the weather widget? The prediction doesn’t really match the local prediction of other weather apps

Just bought a Homey Pro and now planning to get into Dashboards too. Great thread btw.

However before I buy such a tablet to be used as a wall mounted dashboard, I was wondering if there will be a Best Buy guide available for suitable tablets in the near future?

Is it the case that every tablet will work, depending on being able to install the Homey app? If not, I’ve got some feedback for such a Best Buy guide:

  • Which tablet will work and which does not? Personally I’m looking to buy an iPad 2021, 2022 or even an iPad Pro 12.9 inch. But will an OnePlus Pad 2 also work fine?
  • Is there a preference for Android or iOS?
  • There is a minimum OS version, but what about minimal hardware specifications? For instance will an iPad Pro 12.9 from 2017 also work?
  • Is there a minimal screen size?
  • And what kind of screen size works well together with a certain screen resolution?
  • Is there a preferred screen ratio?
  • And what about a minimum brightness level?

I created a number of flows with virtual devices and homekitty and linked them with homekit. Every time I give Siri a voice command the dashboard crashes.

I noticed that with the latest update, two new widgets became available. This seems to imply that for default widgets an app update is required, I’m wondering why this is so? Do internally developed widgets follow a different path to community / third party widgets? (I like how Android uses packages for their own stuff just like any other package, the internal ones are just hidden in most places)

More ontopic: in the latest Homey podcast they showcased a dashboard featuring a cool flipping clock, but I can’t seem to find it. Is that one in the store somewhere or does it require a more custom solution?

Devices page sometimes not reached. Forwarding is activated  Dashboard items works stable…

Internal widgets are just part of the mobile app and is just a different way of displaying your device’s information, it is just like the normal part of the mobile app, all the visuals are part of the mobile app, and not Homey itself.
Homey itself only consists data and the handeling of that data, how it is displayed is all up to the app, web GUI, or (any) dashboard, they all use the same Homey API.

App widgets are just like an app’s settings page, it has to give the mobile app what to display of said service or device(s).

Yes it is the Clocks app.

The energy widget seems to be very picky about what devices I can add to it. What capabilities are required?
In the settings it asks me to add an energy meter. But I can’t even add my Tibber Pulse, and that is nothing but an energy meter.

Can you try to restart the Homey app?

Thanks for your quick response, it was due to a missing location. Great widgets, well done. Thanks!

Could you also support the Sonoff TRVZB for the thermostat widget, please?

Or maybe you can share what the current selection method is? Is it a device class? Can developers set that themselves?

Amazing work! Finally!

Question, can I install the beta via TestFlight app or there is a chance that I have a problem with my existing setup???
And if I have, can I uninstall it without problems?

Is it possible to change the color on the widget for example when I turn it on it turns green and when I turn it off it turns red ?

I made a YouTube video showcasing some of the capabilities of the dashboard using an iPhone and iPad Air in case anyone wants to check it out

This thermostat is missing the thermostat main capabilities:
target_temperature
measure_temperature

It only has sub-capabilities,
target_temperature.local
measure_temperature.local
which ‘don’t count’ if I’m right.
It’s a choice made by the app developer.

My Panasonic heatpump works ok… i am using the panasonic alternative cloud app from git hub…

Thank works

colour alternatives for status would be a nice feature

In the larger forecast widget it seems there is enough space to push the lowest and highest temperature down, so that the current weather condition can be on two line like in the smaller widget :eyes:

Regarding the weather widget. It would also be nice to see how much it’s gonna rain in the coming days. Like a precipitation in mm for each day.

thank god! this feature feels incredibly polished and is very attractive looking. thanks for making this feel premium. I can tell that directional “move” abstraction was made with love haha.

also with this iOS TestFlight version, compatibility with macOS is greatly improved. the version on the store doesnt have a resizable window, and the login button was broken with mouse clicks.
