Homey Dashboards | Megathread

please let me set on my own how many columns I want and then adjust font according to space and not vice versa - this makes no sense sorry

I just want to be able to have a dashboard for a device I want and say I want 2 columns even if there is space for 3… and just have big pictures or whatever in those

I think this should be fairly possible

@Harwin could I get an answer here? this is pretty important base functionality I think
also the referenced post I did not see any reaction from you guys?

further an additional idea I had to bounce in here:
would it be possible to have something like an overlay popup widget - example:
when someone rings the door - popup overlay with a snapshot of my (ring) camera and a button (custom button I have to open my Nuki lock)

OK,
there has to be a limit somewhere.
But so far there have only been problems with other apps below Android 5.
Many users have older tablets for Home-Dashboards that are no longer used for Office.

I would not want to use a device that is EOL and no longer vuln managed and patched for my home (security) system dashboard EVER…

And to be able to add more of own items, e.g. for outdoor climate.

How certain are you that Homey itself is free of vulnerabilities, given that it’s (literally) just a black box?

There are other bad gateways in smart home technology: Shelly, HUE, WiFi, etc.
homey doesn’t need a fingerprint scanner or double verification - Android 6 is definitely sufficient
 :raising_hand_man:t3:

We can’t be certain that’s for sure but that same principle also apply to open source software. I know dev tends to prefer open source but it does not make it safer.
Many critical vulnerabilities in Bash, OpenSSL, Log4j / Log4Shell, and more recently OpenSSH were discovered over the years. Some of these vulnerabilities were present for 10 years :upside_down_face: :man_facepalming:
The best we can all do IMO is making sure we use up-to-date software, use least privilege and implement segmentation wherever possible but even in that case zero day exists on the black market.
For large corporation story can be a bit different but then some company like Microsoft give some of these big corporation extremly restricted access to source code as well in some instances. Private review in a room under supervision for ex.

I’ve never understood why anyone wants to make their home security integrated into everything else.

I personally use Texecom for my home alarm and PIRs. I couldn’t ever imagine wanting to control it using Homey or any other SH controller.

The problem appears for widgets created after the first ā€œhomey app installā€. Have tried and uninstalled the app and installed again, but the widgets created after the first install will not render.

If i change the app ID and name to something new, all widgets works.

Would be great to get a similar widget to the stockticker widget bottom left, but for any sensor device instead - for the rest it looks amazing! Looking forward to.

OK, it’s not necessarily sustainable to keep buying new devices.
I’m going to flash a good, almost new Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
(it’s not easy to get a cheap 10" white tab)
But now back to my question.
From which Android version is the homey dashboard supported?
Thanks and regards  :raising_hand_man:t3:

Android 7

Hmm, doesn’t work.
Tablet is now Android 11 - still no dashboard.
(not really fun…)
I will install a different (older) ROM.
Phone and new tablet Android 10 - dashboard ok.
I’ll give up and wait.
See you later

Are you sure that you’re installing the test version and not a regular release?

You should use this app:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.homey

ok, didn’t know I was a tester :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :man_facepalming:t3:

And that’s why we start by reading (at least) the first post, haha

But glad it was that easy of a fix!

I am already old and have no time for it  :older_man:t3:

I want. I want everything to be controlled in Homey except Disarm

I’m afraid you have to describe your problem a bit more clear. I don’t understand what testflight has to do with emails and "inwisselcodes’?
