Homey Bridge Issues - Problem Description

I’m experiencing problems with my Homey Bridge device connected to my Homey Pro system. I’d like to share my specific issues:

  1. I set up a test with Zigbee devices arranged in a chain configuration, with the Homey Bridge positioned in the middle, but it fails to relay the Zigbee signal properly. The devices can’t communicate through the Bridge as expected.
  2. While my Homey Bridge is successfully connected to my Homey Pro via WiFi, this doesn’t translate to extending the Zigbee network range effectively.
  3. I’ve placed my Homey Bridge in a different part of my home (connected to the same WiFi network), but it’s unable to extend the Zigbee signal to this area despite being correctly set up in the system.
  4. I understand that both devices need to be within Zigbee range of each other to create a proper mesh network, but even when positioned appropriately, the Bridge doesn’t seem to function as a repeater/router.
  5. The Homey Bridge doesn’t appear to function as a “true bridge” that transfers Zigbee signals over WiFi/Ethernet, which limits its usefulness in extending my smart home network.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues with using Homey Bridge as a Zigbee signal extender, and found a working solution?

Wifi is not used to repeat the zigbee signal,
your Homey Pro and zigbee repeaters need to be in each range. So add more Zigbee repeaters in between Homey Pro and the Homey bridge and/or end devices.

Btw you can’t see the mesh network in the Developer Tools.

It seems you read incorrect information, because it doesn’t, and it never did.
The knowledge base says:

However, it does extend IR, 433MHz and Ble over wifi.

However, the ads for the bridge-as-sat as Pro add-on are just vague imho. But it doesn’t say it bridges zigbee signals over wifi

The concept of “home”

The statement “within a single home environment” refers to the practical and technical limits of Zigbee and Z-Wave mesh networks, specifically regarding how far and through what kinds of obstacles their signals can reliably travel. The core point is not about the legal or conceptual definition of a “home,” but about the radio coverage and mesh connectivity that these protocols can maintain.

I would prefer a more precise description, since it is a misconception of the concept/word “home”.

The use of the word “home” in this context is misleading and can create confusion. The real technical limitation is not about the concept of “home” as a physical or legal entity, but about radio coverage and mesh network connectivity .

Sorry for not specifying my problem.

So far I am very disappointed with the Homey Bridge ads. Because it is a blatant deception regarding its operation. (But I am very happy with Homey Pro!!!)
But I will describe my serious problem:
Point A: - Homey Pro
Point B - Homey Bridge
Point C - Relay Zigbee.

I set them up in a chain. Point A does not see Point C. I checked the connection from point A to point B and here the Homey Bridge reports. But point C does not work. Homey Bridge simply does not transmit the Zigbee signal to me. When I move point C to point B, the device works because Homey Pro sees it. What is wrong with Homey Bridge?

Doublecheck: so you mean that your Zigbee Relay (C), and/or devices communicating through this relay, is not communicating with your Homey Pro (A) via the Bridge (B)?

If so, did you repair the Zigbee Relay (and the devices you want to connect to it) in Homey Pro (via the device’s maintenance section) after you placed A, B and C in their final spots?

By repairing, the Zigbee devices will reestablish their connection and - normally - search for the closest Zigbee router in that process.

I didn’t use the “repair” option. I’ll check it when I have a chance.
But I had a case like this: Homey Pro in the living room. I add a new zigbee device in the garage.
Unfortunately, Homey Pro doesn’t see them (too many walls). So I set up Homey Bridge between them (I checked the ping of the Homey Bridge device and it was within range of Homey Pro). I tried to add the Zigbee device again and unfortunately it still wasn’t found. And I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?

maybe you can have a look at your Zigbee network here developer and see what happens …

Sounds like the distance still being to big between some/all units.
As a thumb rule, I’d keep 3 to 4 meters max., with only one wall in between.
