I recently purchased a Herschel California 2000 IR heater and intended to control it via a smart plug integrated with my Homey Pro (2023). However, this approach doesn’t work, as the heater does not automatically power on when mains voltage is applied. It requires manual activation either via the supplied IR remote control or the physical power button on the unit.
Is there any possible workaround to automate this behavior? I’ve considered using a Broadlink RM4 Mini (IR transmitter) to emulate the remote control commands, but as far as I know, there’s currently no native Homey app supporting that device. Any alternative solutions or integration ideas would be greatly appreciated.
