I’m using the heating scheduler app to control the set points on my heating thermostats.
I also have a hot water heater that wants to be run on a scheduler. This is different because there isn’t a readable thermostat - it’s just got a fixed point (60 degrees c), and I have a zwave relay which switches it on and off.
Is there value to using the heating scheduler app to control the water heating relay?
Can I make it work without a thermostat? If I use a VTherm device how would I configure it? There it’s a readable set point.
Did you ever find a good solution for this? Of course you can create a flow or action. I have got this to work by treating a temp sensor in the parent zone as a dummy Vthermo. Using the Home Heating Scheduler the plan sets it to 50 degrees C when you want it on and 1 degrees C when you want it off. I configired it so it thinks a heater is connected to my smart switch.
However the solution has the potential downside of switching off the hot water if the room temp goes above 50… the flipside turning on the water heater below 1 degrees (which is probably not a bad thing). But thr nice thing is when I set the heating to holiday mode, the water follows suit.
