Sorry about the (unnoticed) sway into Dutch… that was unintentional.
I can’t say I understand/can interpret that information (what does XX mean, YY? etc.) but… since both these ‘parameters’ are already in my list of 5 I can sort of deduce what they meant by that. Thanks for looking into it for me… if anyone finds parameters 6 and up somewhere, please post! Thanks all and esp. JP!
Thank you JP… I had had another look at it and came to the conclusion that as far as ‘configuration’ options go (parameters), this document does mention the same 5 I posted above (which incidentally I picked up from the Homeseer community years ago). Maybe some other settings are available in Homey but I will have a look at them as soon as I actually have a Homey available myself. So far so good (or perhaps not, who is to say) but thanks for pointing to the document again. (I wasn’t used to parameters being described like that, now I’m better clued on. Some stuff in there feels more useful for programmers than end user (me). But Thanks!). I’m quite happy to leave it at this for now. Thanks all for reading along too!
Dear all. Sad day today. Received my Homey and the first thing I wanted to sort out was to get the CLI and the working Greenwave app installed.
I followed the instructions (I think and hope) but it was unclear what to do exactly…(I’m an Apple user, not a wizard!) but in any case I couldn’t install the Docker app (I am on OS Ventura, not supported). This means I can not install (even if I knew how to) the Greenwave version with power reporting and polling. As I said: sad day… and it makes me wonder if there isn’t another way to get the right (working) version of the Greenwave app on my new Homey. (Why does Athom entice people to develop apps for Homey… but this coveted version of the Greenwave app isn’t accessible through the regular channel?) Very sad start of Homey life. Needed to get this off my chest. Thanks!
Ah JP I am getting closer (I think) to this ‘user friendly’ sending of raw parameters. In Homey Pro 2023, in the settings window of the Greenwave module… there is a line/box for raw parameters. Is this where you send the above format to the unit? If I follow the suggestions on this forum/page… I keep getting a red line around that box and it won’t send anything.
I typed there: 0x70,0x04,0x04,0x01,0x00
to disable the network error (and hoping to get rid of the flashing light)… but it won’t take.
So 2 questions (OK: 3) (OK: 4):
have I finally understood?
does anyone have this ‘red box’ error problem?
or… do I need to send this command via another means to the device?
I am slowly getting the impression that I need a Z-Wave app to do funny stuff like sending parameters perhaps? (Or are the screenshots I saw from an earlier Homey OS?)
Hilarious. I helped a friend to set up a Homey for him (in the land of the blind, one-eye is King)…
… and I told him I was getting really frustrated getting Device values from Homeseer to Homey (which was solved, by the way…) and he said: why don’t you ask chatgpt, I do this all the time.
So that’s what I just did… and it turns out I just needed to type ‘4,1,0;’ in the raw parameter box and lo and behold: the parameters were sent and the flashing stopped. I hope for a long time (as I managed with a Greenwave still in the Homeseer network.)
Oh and by the way: I am using the vanilla official Greenwave app version (no polling) but I do get perfect power reporting! Not sure what that means to others here… thought I should mention it.
I am just realising that I have 2 different versions of the single Greenwave switches. I am getting (immediate) power feedback in Homey with the NS310. I will have a look if I can find and include the NS210 version and see if that does the same.
Yes, found one, included it… and it does the same as the NS310. Good news, no? Hope it works for you as well… it should do!
OK… I’ve done some more testing. I was totally confused when the power reporting suddenly stopped again… I thought… so I did some further investigation. And it turns out whether or not it works is entirely dependent on having Group 3 association populated with a 1. Take the 1 away, and it no longer works. Put it back in: Bingo. I hadn’t read the information that Homey provides with that Group 3 association… and it turns out that it’s actually saying there that it needs it for power reporting.
I realise this is (so far) only applying to single Greenwave switches. I read some postings on problems with the wonderful 6 socket switch… I’m going to have a look into those later. Now I know that the Homey app DOES work, I hope it also works well with the 6.
(Having read this post in its entirety again, I realise you all knew this already… sorry!)
So I completely read this topic again after having no luck (and running into the original complaints here) for the Powernode 6. The single ones I am happy with, they do everything (except of course that if you press the button locally, it doesn’t report back to Homey… as there is no polling).
But this CLI/Sideload business… and SDK… is sadly total wizardspeak to me (trying to follow the instructions to install SDK on my Mac?, as I think I wrote above, failed.)
I wish the ‘enhanced app’ that someone mentioned above would be simply available through the regular app shop… I had hoped Homey would be a simple environment. (I know, I know… the Athom guys made Greenwave life a misery!… )
With the help of chatgpt though… I’ve discovered the
website… which helped to send raw data to the single nodes to stop the flashing. So I’ve learnt something… but I wish I could do the install of the correct working Greenwave app of course.
Yes, in the end I managed to get that picture i.s.o. the current official Greenwave app. But I ended up with a ‘bricked’ Homey (not necessarily because of this)… I have my 2nd Homey now and tested the backup/restore and restore to factory settings… and it is not a pretty picture. I posted about it here:
I am not sure at this moment if I will keep the Homey. It feels too unreliable if these very basic functions don’t work well.
By the way: installing the Greenwave 1.1.1. version was not easy. I had chatgpt help me find the cause of the problems and one is that there are statements in the files that are no longer accepted by Homey. So I repaired that… and sent the info to Ronald Derksen.who put it on GitHub. And got the older app installed. Sadly the instructions didn’t say I had to delete all Greenwave devices first (you have to re-include them anyway) and then I couldn’t anymore. So that is something I hope Ronald will include in his instructions!
Thanks Rudi for the offer… I may take you up on that in the future… if I continue with Homey.
Good morning. I haven’t quite given up yet… as I seem to have a more stable Homey that at least allows me to revert to factory settings. (But, as you can read elsewhere: backup/restore does not work for at least z-wave…)
I have a few questions about the installation of version 1.1.1.
I have reset Homey to factory settings and would like to just test the installation of the Greenwave 1.1.1.
is it necessary to first have the current version installed (and then switch off automatic updates) or can you install 1.1.1. immediately as the first app. (I know you can do it, as I did it, but it gave problems so I wonder if that is the right course of action.)
when I do install 1.1.1 it stops me from adding new devices. When I still had some other apps (KAKU, Eurotronics, Coolcam etc) I could not add any new device of any technology. What happens is: you push the green connect button and then a window should give you instructions on how to add… but that screen remains empty save for the rotating cog… it never responds. This problem persists even if you remove the app… so 1.1.1. does screw something up. Has any of you had this same problem? Or is it related to the more recent version of Homey OS?
Any helpful comment welcome of course! Thanks! Have a good weekend, Eric
As soon as I install Greenwave 1.1.1…. the feature of adding a device stops working. Any device, not just Greenwave or Z-wave… but all Device technologies I have in Homey. Big
That’s really weird! I never experienced that. And it shouldn’t happen.
At the same time: although in theory the Greenwave devices are great, perhaps it is better to steer away from them. If there is a good alternative, take that
Ha, yes… but what to do with the quite substantial collection of Greenway devices… and especially the 6 nodes… (even if I found an alternative… would I throw them in the bin?). Of course it’s old technology but that doesn’t justify discarding them as long as they work. (And they do in Homeseer.)
But seriously: one (indeed 1) of the reasons I am posting here is to warn others if they should decide to try this 1.1.1. version… they may run into irreparable problems… especially given that backup/restore doesn’t work.
