We will sort it out ![]()
It would also be nice to be able to hide devices. For instance if I’ve made a group with devices I would like to hide the included devices. Right now I have zones named “öööööööö_dummydevices” so that they are in the bottom of my device list but I would like to have a toggle switch or filter so that they aren’t shown at all
I totally agree @Fredrik_Backman!
Did you know Homey supports build-in feature for grouping devices? Devices within a group are hidden by default.
Latest beta of the mobile app added sorting of zones and I really like it. So much appreciated!
One thing I don’t know if it was there before is sorting the devices by either name (default) or type. But seems like the types are just sorted by the underlying device_class alphabetically without much sense? Somehow I feel like there should be some logic behind how the device types are ordered, like lights → outlets → thermostats, ACs, etc → sensors → everything else?
EDIT: Also seems like the web version does not support changing the order (yet?), but it respects whatever order you set up in the mobile app, which is nice ![]()
In that case it should be possible to hide the group device as well ![]()
, otherwise you just replace one device for the other (if grouping single devices were a way to hide devices) ![]()
The device sorting by type is new and is a very small feature for now. I do agree that it could be improved by adjusting the classes in a custom order. Time will tell ![]()
The web version will get the zone sorting feature when the Mobile App version has been released officially. Soon™
I doubt that you can group a group ![]()
Not exactly, Harwin, I meant, like, if it is possible to group a single device, then we could hide that device like that.
But in that case, the hidden device is replaced by an unhidden group device.
So in that case group devices should be possible to be hidden as well ![]()
Well, it would also be great to be able to group a group, @Harwin… ![]()
I have some light fixtures consisting of two or more bulbs. I grouped these bulbs to make sure they are always switched on simultaneously.
But that way, I am unable to add that light fixture to the group “living room lights”, for example.
The group and bulbs of that fixture are now hidden when trying to create a group “living room lights”.
Maybe if you created the group with the groups app, then you can group the Group devices.
Yes, perhaps, but that would require an addional app for something that Athom tried to achieve with a built in feature…
Actually they referred to the < group > app for “when you need the more advanced possibilities” ![]()
![]()
(in one of the podcasts)
Depends on what you call “advanced”…
In the latest homey podcast episode they talked about hiding devices is a feature that is currently being worked on and should come out soonish.
Yeah that’s standard talk. But @ Athom ‘soonish’ can mean a month, or a year, or never ![]()
We’ll see!
Well, all the stuff the built in group can’t do, and what the < group > app can… ‘Extended’ might be a better word here ![]()
What a revolution… ![]()
At this rate, when will they release updates for Zigbee/Matter devices?
maybe a bad example then. I would like to be able to hide devices that I don’t use/toggle in the device list. Maybe even hide entire zones. For example devices that represent ip-adresses, door sensors or energy monitoring devices. Devices that I dont use/toggle but that have there own purposes. I don’t want to group them or sort them last in a ”dummy zone” I would just want to be able to hide them and maybe have a easy way to show/hide devices that I’ve given a specific attribute for this
