Hi,
I have switched over from Fibaro too :blush: and I am in the same situation as you.
I love very much the advanced flows but don’t like at all the style of the icons and the fact that you don’t have different icons for different states of the device.
Hope this will change.

Do note, re-pairing the device is needed to get the custom icon.

Since you were tagging my post about the SONOS device icons receiving an update, I assumed that’s what you were referring to.

If you were asking about support for custom icons instead, that’s currently not on the roadmap.

  • cat litter box
  • swimming pool
  • swimming pool filter pump
  • swimming pool salt system (Intex)

Hi Athom team and fellow Homey users

I’ve been a Homey Pro user for some time and am generally very satisfied with the system’s flexibility and user-friendliness.

However, one important feature is missing that would greatly improve the visual usability of larger setups:

:small_blue_diamond: The ability to upload custom icons or images for devices – especially physical devices.

I use Homey to control many types of equipment, not just lights and switches. Some of the devices I manage include:

  • Pumps
  • Ventilation systems
  • Water meters
  • Actuators
  • Coffee machines
  • Specialized sensors

Unfortunately, the current icon library doesn’t include any appropriate icons for most of these. As a result, I am often forced to use unrelated symbols (like a lightbulb icon for a pump), which reduces clarity and usability.

Previously, I used Fibaro HC2, which allowed uploading your own device images, and it worked very well. It gave:

  • Better visual navigation
  • Easier access for family members
  • Better customization for specialized equipment

I understand the desire to maintain design consistency, but I kindly ask you to consider:

  1. Allowing users to upload their own SVG or PNG icons (perhaps with a size/quality guideline).
  2. Expanding the built-in icon library to include more technical device types.
  3. Enabling icon customization for all devices – not just virtual ones.

Many users on the forum have requested this feature already. I hope you’ll consider adding this long-awaited flexibility to Homey.
