Eglo Connect-z Remote 2.0 Wont Connect

Hi everyone. It took me some trial and error to pair up Eglo’s Connect Remote 2.0 to Homey, but here’s the process that got it working:

  1. Install the smartphone app called AwoX HomeControl (don’t get confused, the old AwoX app won’t work, you need exactly this newer app version)
  2. Start the AwoX app, set the remote in pairing mode with [on] + [blue] simultaneously for 3 seconds – it will blink with red light, pairing activated.
  3. Connect it to the app, then run Upgrade the firmware (mandatory step, to make it work with Homey).
  4. It’s important to factory reset the remote with [on] + [colored wheel] for 3 seconds, otherwise it won’t connect to Homey. Remote should blink many times with red LED again.
  5. Remove device from AwoX HomeControl app.
    Set Eglo Remote 2.0 into pairing mode by pressing [on] + [blue] simultaneously for 3 seconds
  6. In Homey’s Eglo app press add device and choose Remote 2.0 - it should show up and pair up.
  7. … profit! <3

Unfortunately without those actions, the remote won’t connect, as it runs the old firmware and requires to be updated. It’s for good, anyway, as they had quite a few security fixes as well.
