Doorbell(camera) and security camera solutions

I am looking for products with specific requirements and I hope you guys can help me find them, if they exist.

  1. A (video) doorbell that integrates well with Homey, which also has motion detection and records footage (and additional settings such as AI detection etc. would be a nice extra). An important point is that it all works locally, so no cloud or app from the doorbell brand is needed.

  2. Battery-powered indoor and outdoor cameras (no wiring) that integrates well with Homey which also have motion detection and record footage (and like the doorbell, more settings options such as AI detection, etc. would be a nice extra). But it also works entirely locally, so no cloud or app from the camera brand is needed.

Eufy would probably be a good solution here. I don’t have their doorbell, but I have some of their cameras and they work nicely with Homey.

I have Tapo cameras, these can work with Homey via ONVIF/RTSP. They have local SD card recording (cloud subscription is optional, but not required for recording to SD) They’re easy to set up and very user-friendly. But the battery-powered cameras don’t have RTSP/Onvif so those won’t work with Homey.

Thanks for your reply!

The Eufy does look good, but can you use it without the homebase and Eufy app?

Do you have any other camera options?

Only some models, I have a Battery Solar Wall Light camera and that works without HomeBase. Not all Eufy cameras have an SD card slot, so you might need a HomeBase for recording.

If you need wired cameras, Tapo is a good solution. It offers local SD card recording (no cloud subscription required). It can integrate with Homey via ONVIF/RTSP (local), and they get frequent security updates (even my 5 year old cameras still get updates) But keep in mind that their battery cameras and doorbells are not supported by Homey

Can you access the footage on the SD-card via homey?

Unfortunately its not possible to make the cameras wired where they should come

No, Homey has no support for viewing previous recordings (you’ll need the Eufy mobile app for that). You’ll have to check if the Eufy cameras have an SD card slot, only some models have one (the others require a HomeBase for recordings).

When choosing an Eufy doorbell, you can also choose a model with a minibase chime. That’s a chime with possibility for recording on an SD card. And less expensive.

I have the E340 with minibase chime and am very pleased with it.
