Devices in flows

Hi, I feel I’m missing something really obvious but cannot find the answer.

When creating a flow, I can see most, if not all of my devices under ‘If’, but a number of them missing under ‘Then’. These include switches and lights which I would have thought would be included under ‘Then’ actions as being able to manipulate them (turning a switch on/off for example) would be a logical outcome step in a flow. Any ideas?

Please specify brand and type of the devices that you don’t see under "Then "

Some devices do not have a ‘Then’ option, for example some switches allow you to trigger or toggle, turned on or off and then you can use the ‘And’ function in a flow to see switch state, i.e.is on or off but there may not be a then as device is either on or off from the press of a button etc.

I’m not sure why you would want to set a switch to on or off?

You’ll find some devices dont have an ‘And’ function too.

Hope that helps
Darrell

That is because we call as well sensors as well as actuators a “switch”.

Hi, thank you all for the responses. So I have a switch module (containing 4 switches) attached to a perimeter gate, each switch performs a different function. Switch 1 opens/closes the gate. My issue is the gate is set up to automatically close after 3 mins for safety reasons, so a toggle (whether on the gate remote or switch) will not keep the gate open if we need it to be. Thus we need to turn the switch on to keep the gate held open, after which I want to create flows for different circumstances including situations based on geolocation (leaving home, coming home or entering zones).Problem is I cannot see the gate module nor the four indivudal switches to control them under ‘Then’. Apologies if I’m not using the right terminology, I’m coming from a HA setup so I’m used to what that can do.

*sorry, should also add this is a Tuya switch, and a number of them aren’t showing, but some are. Why doesn’t it show all or nothing?

As these 4 switches are (probably) connected to buttons, would you expect to push down the button remotely?
Maybe you can specify the module(s) involved. To make it more complicated, there are devices that function as sensor and as actor, which might be connected locally. Difficult to see from a distance how your devices are wired. And what app are using?

Hi Rmb. It’s a switching module operated through Smartlife app. No physical button on the unit so it is operated through the app. In HA, it just shows as a switch which can be operated as part of an automation, hence my confusion here. I appreciate it’s not apples for apples.

I cannot find the app SmartLife in the Homey store.
So most likely the device is not compatible with Homey.
You have to find a Homey app which explicitly says it is supporting your device and then the app will show which cards are available.

Apologies, it is on Homey through Tuya. I’ve added the switch, it is showing on the devices tab and will even add as an ‘if’ argument on flow, just not a ‘then’ argument

There are three Tuya apps, none supporting a module with 4 switches. So it is not supported.

I can turn the swtiches on/off through the app in devices, the app is Tuya cloud. It sees the switch and I can interact with it, so not quite sure that it’s not supported

Supported is not the same as that something works accidentally . You are missing THEN cards though. So you cannot complain, but just request the developer to add the device.
Just search in this forum for “ 4 channel Tuya”.
