Compatibility questions

Hi.

Question 1:
I need few switches, and my plan is to use Sonoff Basic R4’s. They work over Zigbee. But do they work with Homey (Pro)? Or do you have something that you would recommend instead, preferably Zigbee operated? And cheap

Question 2:
What about Sonoff’s Zigbee door sensors (SNZB-04 or SNZB-04P), are they any good with Homey?
At least they are affordable, but if not usable or difficult to use with Homey, then it’s not worth putting any money on them..

Question 3:
I need to upgrade my thermostats, I have been looking at this lately, and I am just worried if it can work with Homey Pro, it says Matter and major platforms supported, so I think it could work. But I need some more votes to back me up here..

Question 4:
Yale Doorman L3. Works with bluetooth and can join with wifi with additional hub. If I get one of those, do I also need the hub- or can Homey Pro act as a hub, since bluetooth is supported and Yale seems to have some apps…

I use a bunch of those on zigbee2mqtt. The units themselves are functioning perfectly (also in a shed). It all depends on the quality of your zigbee mesh, interference, and the brands and model zigbee router devices.
It’s tricky to say, “yes, it works fine on Homey”

It has the Matter logo indeed, but Tuya has a bad name when it comes to not following standards ( very well).
And appearantly manufacturers can sell devices with non-standard Matter functionality. Search for Eve measuring plugs here @ forum.

Which of the 5 apps?

Regarding question 2: the latest version of the SONOFF Zigbee app for Homey supports both door & window sensors.

Regarding question 1: are you referring to the cord switch? The above app supports the Basic ZBR3; it does not seem to support the R4. You may want to reach out to the developer to request support.

As suggested in my response to one of your other posts: check the Homey App Store for compatibility of devices :grinning:.

Yes, the cord switch to replace, for example, switch on table lamp. ZBR3 availability seems to be bit more rare, but if it works..

About that snzb-04… Is my only choice then zigbee2mqtt instead of just having a sensor? I kinda had a worst possible experience ever with Homey and mqtt, so I forgot to mention that I want to stay away of mqtt as much as possible.

Yes, thermostat has matter logo on it… I really share your feeling about not trusting matter device designed for Tuya, but there is some calming there as they say it’s compatible with HomeKit.. I guess Apple support is the most difficult to achieve, so that then on the other hand gives back some trust on it.. How’s matter support on Homey? Think it could handle thermostat over matter?

And for that Yale Doorman.. Which app? Whichever does the job…

And as you did suggest it in my earlier post, I decided that I’d better to ask first as it seems that it isn’t that simple when documentation is missing completely and when supported does not always mean that you could do something with it, or maybe there are hardware revisions that are excluded - hopefully someone will warn me before buying stuff that won’t work with Homey.

No problem to ask.

Regarding the door/window sensors: you connect them directly to Homey via the indicated SONOFF Zigbee app. No need for MQTT.

I think @Peter_Kawa mentioned zigbee2mqtt as - I assume - he has those sensors connected to another platform and uses the Homey zigbee2mqtt app to connect to it. But I think he’d better clarify that, as those are just my assumptions.

In that case, plan for door sensor selection is set..
About those switches; ZBR3 might be it… But anyone has other recommendations? It seems to be a device that is hard to find for sale. Possibly outdated and replaced by other models (which are not officially supported by sonoff app)

Actually, for switch like that.. Tuya might be on the list as well. I have one wall switch that is Tuya/zigbee device and it works perfectly with Homey, and it’s directly connected to Homey, not to Tuya’s hub. There is a chance that simple switch… Could work also.

Edit: I take that back. Can’t find such devices with zigbee, only wifi, so Tuya is not going to work here (as I want local control).

It should :winking_face_with_tongue: F.i. tado X is being used:

And again, skip Tuya
