I built my own dashboard software for my Homey Pro and wanted to share it.
At the moment it runs smoothly
It’s not ready and i customize it till i’m ok with it.
Why?
Most dashboard apps only run on Android or on a phone. I wanted one dashboard that looks the same everywhere and that I can fully customise. It runs in Docker on my Synology NAS and talks directly to Homey on my local network, with no cloud or subscription.
Where does it run?
Android wall tablet (Fully Kiosk)
Any browser on a PC, Mac or iPad
Its own Windows app
Changes show up on every screen straight away.
What’s in it?
Tiles: lights, dimmers, thermostats, blinds, locks, sensors, flows, moods, charts, energy, presence, alarms and notifications.
Layout: tabs, colours, icons, button styles and backgrounds are all my own choice.
Camera: live video from my Reolink, pan/tilt with presets, auto-tracking on/off, a pop-up on motion, and one button to open the Surveillance Station recordings.
Assistant (Claude): I type what I want in plain language, e.g. “make a flow that turns on the hall light when the front door opens”. It suggests the change and only applies it after I Editing existing flows, make fliws
Health check: one button shows unresponsive devices, low batteries, crashed apps and broken flows, with one-tap fixes where possible. It also checks every hour and sends a push message when something new goes wrong.
Maintenance: PIN lock on the settings, one-click backup (the Windows app also makes one every week), and one-click update that rolls back automatically if something fails.
The assistant uses Anthropic’s API, which costs a few cents per request. Everything else is free and runs locally, but i can change that to when i find the best way to do that save.
