[App][Pro] Zaptec charging

Homey can not communicate with zaptec after this update

Oh, no. I found an issue with Homey versions prior to 12.3.3:

“Fixes an issue that resulted in apps receiving a device’s energy property set to null instead of an object.”

Do you mind checking your running version? (in settings → general)

Version 12.2.1

New patch released now. Does it fix your problem? I also recommend updating Homey to latest version 12.4.1.

Thanks, updated to 12.4.1 and all works well again. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi. Great to hear Go2 is working. I think there is no way to stop the charging once authorization is done, when in standard mode. You say the charger is in automatic mode. Do you mean “Eco”-mode? Can you then start/stop the charge from Homey? Can you please explain why you can not have it in standard mode when operating it from Homey? Unfortunately there is no documentation on how to change chargemode, so for now it is not possible to add this as a flow card.

In Eco-mode you can only override starting the charger from the Zaptec app. Unfortunately.

Hi. I think Zaptec Go can only change the values on all phases simultaneously. Can you control what values are set in the portal when you use 16/16/13 ?. Seems like in the Zaptec app one set them together: https://help.zaptec.com/hc/nb/articles/31950255424529-Hvordan-endre-ladestrømmen-for-Zaptec-Go

Hi!

I really mean charging mode ‘Automatic’; in the Zaptec app, I get the following options (translated from Dutch):
1: Standard charging (current can be managed manually in the app)
2: Planned charging (charging at pre-determined interval)
3: Automatic charging (managed by Zaptec Sense, connected to P1 meter)

My charger is set to the third one, since Zaptec Sense will only work in this mode and otherwise the 16A limit would be exceeded every now and then.

Regarding Eco mode; I do not use this since I use Homey to optimize charging intervals.

If I recall correctly, authenticating is required before Zaptec charger can initiate charging, right? Also when using Homey to send a ‘start charging’ command? Otherwise the solution would be very simple; don’t authenticate and then leave the charging interval to Homey.. but I guess that’s not how it works.

Hi Philip, thanks for the app!

I prefer to have power usage as the status indicator for my Zaptec device in Homey. Every time the Zaptec app for Homey restarts, the status indicator changes back to “any alarm” and I have to change to power usage again.

Hi. I have tibber. Is it possible to disconnect them from controlling my zaptec go. It would be easier to automate for example solarcharge

Hi. Authentication is only possible with physical RFID chip, if authentication is required. Not possible to override in the app. So it must be done at least once after cable is connected, before charging is possible.

But I can not see how starting and stoping charging once after authenticating would degrade your battery. All the time the Sense is doing the same several times per charging session? I guess cars batteries are made for this. Degradation were much more critical in early days, not so much for modern cars is my impression. As long as it stays between 20-80% you should be good.

I made an issue to look into this. Thanks for giving me the tip!

You should ask Tibber. I guess you can disconnect it if Tibber are not supposed to control it. Does it solve your problem?

Hey! Unfortunately the official documentation mentions nothing of changing charge mode. I found no other apps doing it either. Please reach out if you find some, other than the Zaptec app for iOS/Android or Zaptec portal website, that is able to change modes. Would fix a lot of issues.

I can disconnect via Tibber app but i want to do it via flows. Easee can do that.

This is how easee’s Cards look like.

Should the Go2 show up in the energy tab? Asking as i’ve just added mine to Homey and i’m not seeing it show up. (Go2 paired with Sense)

Yes, in version v1.7.0 from April a signed meter value was added. Which you can access as a tag to use in logic flowcards.
