[APP][Pro] WebPanel – Your Homey dashboard on any wall tablet

WebPanel – your Homey dashboard on any wall tablet

WebPanel turns any tablet or phone on your home network into a wall dashboard for Homey Pro. It’s built for wall tablets running Fully Kiosk Browser, but works in any browser. You edit the dashboard on the tablet itself, so there’s no computer or app needed to set it up.

Get WebPanel in the Homey App Store

Highlights

  • Edit on the tablet. Every page is one free grid (up to 32 x 32). Drag and resize tiles, group them with headings, and add several tiles at once from previews of how they will look.
  • Tiles for everything. Lights with brightness and white-tone moods, room light groups (“5 of 15 lights on”), sockets, blinds, thermostats with ▲/▼, sensors, locks, speakers, robot vacuums, presence and cameras with a live picture. Flow buttons start your Flows.
  • Electricity prices in colour. Tibber-style price tiles go from green to red with today’s price level.
  • Widgets. Clock, weather, news (RSS), notes, headings, camera images, web pages, and Insights graphs you switch between day, week and month right on the tile.
  • Three styles. Crisp, Cards (like Homey Dashboards) and Colorful (gradients by kind of tile), each in dark or light.
  • Live. Changes show up on every tablet at once, and tablets reload themselves after an update.

Pop-ups from Flows

WebPanel has the same notification cards as ESPanel: messages, messages with an icon, sticky messages, countdowns, questions with ✓ / ✕ and pictures (for example a doorbell camera snapshot). Questions trigger “confirmed” and “declined” in your Flows.

You can send to one tablet (add it as a device) or to all tablets at once with the app-level cards, no device needed.

Works together with ESPanel

If you also use my ESPanel wall panels, WebPanel fits right in:

  • The same pop-up cards and answers, so one Flow can drive both kinds of panels.
  • The same Heimdall alarm integration: arm and disarm with a keypad, lockdown while armed and arming countdowns, with the same rules on both.
  • The same tile looks, white-tone moods and electricity price colours.

Getting started

  1. Install WebPanel on your Homey Pro.
  2. Open the app’s settings and create a dashboard. Every dashboard gets its own link with a secret key.
  3. Open that link on the tablet. In Fully Kiosk, make it the start URL.
  4. Tap Edit, add your tiles and save. Set an edit PIN in the app settings if others use the tablet.

Several tablets? Add &home=2 to a tablet’s link to give it its own home page. The tablet returns there after a while without touches.

Security

WebPanel only answers on your local network. Each dashboard has its own secret key, and a key only reaches the devices and Flows on its own dashboard. Editing can be locked with a PIN, and repeated wrong keys or PINs block that address for 10 minutes. You can renew a key from the app settings at any time.

Tips for Fully Kiosk

  • Turn off Pull to refresh and Zoom so swipes and pinches stay on the dashboard.
  • Turn on Device admin if you want Homey to switch the screen off at night.
  • Set Restart on unresponsiveness to 60 seconds.

Requirements

  • Homey Pro (2019 or later). WebPanel runs a small web server on your Homey, so it doesn’t work on Homey Cloud.
  • A tablet or phone on the same network. Fully Kiosk Browser is recommended.

What’s new in 1.0.2

  • Three styles (Crisp, Cards, Colorful), each dark or light.
  • One free grid per page, with headings to group tiles.
  • Graphs switch between day, week and month on the tablet.
  • Camera pictures no longer close at once on touchscreens.
