Hi everyone,
I’ve built a Homey app that brings Volkswagen Group vehicle data directly into Homey, using the official EU Data Act portal!
Supported Brands
- Volkswagen (Passenger Cars & Commercial Vehicles)
- Audi
- Škoda
- SEAT
- Cupra
- Bentley
What does it do?
The app connects to the VW Group EU Data Act portal and polls your vehicle data automatically. No third-party cloud, no API keys — just your existing brand account (Volkswagen ID, myAudi, myŠkoda, etc.).
46+ data points, including:
Battery level (SoC), electric range, combined range
Charging state, charge power, charge speed, remaining time, target SoC, charge type (AC/DC)
Mileage (odometer)
Door & window status per side (FL/FR/RL/RR), trunk, hood, sunroof
Lock state per door (read-only)
Outside & cabin temperature
Fuel level, oil level, AdBlue range
Parking brake, vehicle standing/moving
Inspection & oil change countdowns (km + days)
Tyre pressures (4×), 12V battery voltage
Last updated timestamp
Capabilities adapt automatically to your vehicle type (EV / Hybrid / Combustion) — only data points your car actually delivers are shown.
Flow cards
8 Triggers: Battery level changed, charging state changed, mileage updated, lock state changed, plug connected/disconnected, door opened, window opened, trunk opened, vehicle started/stopped moving
10 Conditions: Is charging, is locked, plug connected, range below X, battery below X, door open, window open, trunk open, parking brake set, vehicle standing
Dashboard widget
A Vehicle Status widget shows battery/fuel level with animated charging bar, range, mileage, temperature, lock status and charging info at a glance. Upload a photo of your car in the app settings — it appears on the left side of the widget.
Smart polling & reliability
- Adaptive polling — aligns with the portal’s 15-minute dataset schedule
- Data merging — keeps last good values when the portal delivers partial data
- Quiet Hours — pause polling overnight (default 23:00–06:00, configurable)
- Proactive token refresh — session renewed before expiry, no more random 401 errors
- Stale data detection — skips unchanged datasets to save resources
- CAN bus sentinel filtering — filters out phantom values like 65535
- Identifier self-healing — auto-recovers when portal subscriptions are recreated
More features
Full English & German UI — pairing, settings, widget, flows, everything
Homey Energy integration — charge power appears in the Energy dashboard
Miles/km toggle — converts all distances and speeds, including capability titles
In-app setup guide — complete Readme with step-by-step instructions in the app settings- Brand-specific device icons (real logos)
- Debug data viewer with raw JSON and copy button
- Re-authentication via repair view
How to set up the EU Data Act portal
If you haven’t used it before:

- Click “Get my data” and sign in with your brand account
- Select your vehicle
- Choose data clusters (recommended: “All Data”)
- Enable continuous data delivery with 15-minute frequency
- Wait at least ~30 minutes for the first dataset (could take as well many hours
)
A complete setup guide is also available inside the app settings under the Readme tab after installation.
