Inspired by @Peter_H69, I added a Set export limit action for the Energy device. I also wrote some instructions in the first post of this thread.
Hello everyone,
I’ve had the problem for 3–4 days now that my inverter no longer displays any values. I’ve had this issue before. Back then, I simply “reinstalled” the device in Homey. Unfortunately, this time it didn’t work. As soon as I search for the inverter in my network, either automatically or with a reserved IP address, it doesn’t find it.
Via Sunny Explorer, the settings are still correct.
Do you have any idea?
Try this, disable and enable the Modbus service @ your inverter
The solution worked, but unfortunately only for three days. After that, I had to repeat the whole process. Does anyone have a permanent fix?
Did you reserve the inverter’s IP address at your DHCP server?
Do you use any network tools like AdGuard, PiHole?
Does you inverter send error reports?
If not, what do the inverter logs say? Especially at the moment the connection got lost.
Hello!
I have a Sunny Boy 3.6, a Smart Energy Meter 2, and a Sunny Home Storage system.
I asked the installer to enable Modbus for me, which he did.
However, when I try to add my battery, the system only detects the ‘‘Smart energy 3.6’’ and shows very few parameters.
How can I add the Sunny Home Storage so that I can see its parameters as well?
Thank you in advance!
Usage of the set export limit action
To only produce solar power for your usage and not export any power, invoke the action with the value 0. To reset the value back to its original setting, set it to 100. The unit is in %.
So, I’ve already an active limitation on my system because the PV production is higher than the grid connection. So, If I put in 100%, what is 100%?
Is that, my currently set grid limitation setting OR the maximum available PV production?
This are two different things.
I set the limitation to 1% and back to 100%.
My plant automatically keeps the limitation at 71%, (I have also grid limitation)
No there is no debug message present
I’m afraid this is going to be a stab in the dark as I see no references to it here, but…
Can this app be used to get data out of the SMA Sunny WebBox?
My inverter (Sunny Boy 3300TL HC) is too old (2009) to use with your app since it has no option to enable the Modbus. I however made a connection between PVOrg and the SMA Sunny Portal (that is fed through my connected SMA WebBox). I tried then to connect with your Homey SMA app via the PVOrg option but I get the message that to do this I need to have already an inverter installed. Is there a way to get around this and get my PVOrg production data into my Homey (with energy dongle)? Is creating a virtual device an option? Your guidance is much appreciated. Thank you!
I made a connection between PVOrg and my Webbox/Sunny Portal. I’m now looking in getting this PVOrg data into Homey (see my post/question earlier today).
Hi,
I did find a way to import org data. There is an app PV output that does just that. @Greuntesop If you need help to set this up from your WebBox, let me know.
Do you mean pvoutput.org? I’ve tried to make an account for days and it’s not working…
Yes. This is what I did:
- Activate in your WebBox (transmission page) the SunnyPortal creation.
- Make an PV org account based on your SunnyPortal (I just followed the steps in the documentation you can find in the About tab) to pull the data into PVOrg a first time. (Overview — PVOutput documentation).
- Then I followed the steps in the auto-uploader section of the manual to automatically upload to PV Org and connect with the WebBox (use the SMA WebBox as “device”).
- In the settings page of my PV Org account I Enabled API access and used the API key and system ID to activate the PVoutput app in Homey
I hope this helps ![]()
I found out in the mean time that you can’t register with apple email addresses.
