[App][Pro] OpenWeather

Hi all,

just wondering are there plans to integrate the solar forecast irradiance?

Solar irradiance API

Best regards,

I don’t think so based on the price - as long there are free version for like Solcast app.

If this would be includes in the OneCall API (1000 free calls a day), then yes. But I can’t imagine that many users are willing to pay for

How are the calls processed for linked devices?
I have one device for weather to poll every 6 minuts and a second device for the weather in 6hours. This second one, does it then also poll every 6 minuts? (Both then poll individually)
Or is only the first one which polls the api and gives the info to second device?

The thirth device is for air polution and only polls every 30 min and is really independend from the other 2 device.

The Current weather device is polling and the dependent devices (hourly, daily) are updated with this one API call.

Air pollution device is using another API and is polling itself.

Thanks.

But api seem to fail with me. 2a06c23a-64a7-4be0-98d9-b6987ae24d7d

New key and subscription enabled, subscription is a personal one and not business.

Owh, wait, now it seems to work, device is updated.

@RonnyW, I don’t know if it has already been announced here. If so, please let me know and I will delete the post.

How to transfer from One Call API 2.5 to the One Call API 3.0 - OpenWeatherMap

Thanks, haven’t already seen it.
That means all users with an old API key (without subscription) will need to get an 3.0 key and set this in device settings for the OneCall devices, and set API version to 3.0.
All ‘new’ users already have a 3.0 key.
That’s only a key and subscription difference. The data behind the API is the same.

Ronny do you know if it’s enough just to subscribe and change version to 3.0 ? Or new API key is required?
Thanks

I checked my both keys. For the “old” 2.5 key I can add the subscription. Looks as if this is an easy and possible way just addings the subscription.

Ou, seems I was just inpatient. It’s indeed working - after change I had to wait aprox. 10 min.

Hi is it possible to get the % probability precipitation on a card .
Thanks

Can you get a bit more detailled in your question, please?

There is a trigger card for devices supporting this value (forecasts):

Sorry had to add more forecast types. Forecast+1 . See the card now.
Many thanks for the pointer

Just FYI, using 6 devices from Openweather… I recommend to keep eye on Members

What kind of devices? Only devices with API key are counting.

Didn’t know there are nonAPI devices.

All devices where have to add an API key during pairing will connect to OWM API (and are counted in your OWM account for the 1000x limit).

  • Current weather location (OneCall)
  • Current weather location (free key)
  • Aiq quality location

For other forecast devices, you select the location device during pairing. These devices are updated from the location device. They don’t make API calls.

Background:
The Onecall or AirQuality API is providing the whole data in one call (current weather, hourly, daily forecast).
The location device is doing the API request .
The forecast devices are updated from the location device with the forecast data of the defined forecast period (the +xx hlours/days you set during pairing).

So you can have as many forecast devices as you want for a location device and you still need only one API call for one poll intervall.

…so are the 370 API calls appropriate in my case? It has been maybe a year since I did the pairing

Yes, only your current weather and the Air quality are doing API requests with the interval set in device settings. All fine. You are far away from the limit.

Strange thing with wind speed. It says m/sec, I think it should say km/h

For sure the wind wasn’t blowing with > 100 km/h yesterday @ 17:00
I’m using the basic card, no API
