The standard driver uses the MQTT broker, but it requires an eMotion Ultra as the gateway. Basically, the eMotion Air connects to the Ultra via Bluetooth and then the Ultra passes the data to the broker.
The Zigbee version connects directly using Homey’s Zigbee controller. If you use that, the LinknLink app won’t be able to connect to the eMotion Air unless you pair it in Bluetooth mode again and that breaks the Zigbee connection.
The only downside is the Zigbee interface doesn’t allow changing settings such as sensitivity and times between detection and no detection. So, make sure you setup those in the LinknLink app before adding it to Homey as a Zigbee device. I have emailed LinknLink to see if they can make those settings available via Zigbee.
To pair using Zigbee, you will need to hold down the button for 15 seconds (until the led flashes). Note the led lights up after 10 seconds but keep the button pressed as that just indicates it is in Bluetooth pairing mode.
Is there any benefit of the one using the ultra over the standard Zigbee as mentioned in your reply?
Zigbee is more direct, so only Homey and the eMotion Air to go wrong.
Using it via the eMotion Ultra adds an extra layer and relies on the Bluetooth connection between the two devices. That could add an extra delay. The benefit is you can access the settings in the LinknLink app without removing the device from Homey.

So i have a zigbee network already existing but it is on a Home Assitant server (due to devices not being supported by Homey, this gave me the best funcionlity) so can your app use the Zigbee2MQQT or MQQT server hosted on the Home Assistand server?
This si getting deeper than i have gone before. So just want to make sure i am not causing more problems than i am trying to fix..

You can have two Zigbee networks, as long as they are on different channels. AFAIK, Homey randomly assigns a channel each time the Zigbee is reset.
If you use the eMotion Ultra as the gateway, then the AIR will use the same MQTT broker as the Ultra.
Do you have any eMotion Ultra sensors ATM, and if so how are they connected?
I am looking the big picture at the moment and trying to work out the best way to implement the sensors and not have to keep messing about with them.
I tried adding them earlier just using Zigbee, but found the reaction times were shocking. Have you found this on your sensors?
I see a response time from entering the room and it showing active in Homey of about 3 seconds, so pretty much in line with my other presence sensors.
The time before showing not active is programable in the LinknLink app and I have that set to about 1 minute. In reality it feels more like 2 minutes, but I didn’t time it, so maybe quicker.
if you are seeing longer delays then maybe the Zigbee channel is colliding with the HA Zigbee or your WiFi causing interference.
I have had a reply from LinknLink and adding the configuration parameters to the Zigbee information is on the roadmap, but no time frame. So ATM you need to change the device back to Bluetooth mode to change the settings in the LinknLink app and then put the device back to Zigbee mode. Thankfully, Homey picks it up again straight away, so no messing about with re-paring it.
Input it into Bluetooth pairing, update the firmware…
Then what do you need to do so it does not break any homey setups etc.??
