[App][Pro] LIFX (LAN)

An update is in the works. However, it takes longer than anticipated. As long as the new devices support the original LAN protocol the app can support them.
I got no ETA at this point but I would guess it will come within this month or early next month.

That would be great!

Hello, this cards don’t work for me anymore… have worked flawlessly before. What have happened?

574edc68-6516-4b9a-9315-2a033ffbac5f

Still working fine on my end. Nothing has changed afaik.
Maybe you invalidated your token by accident or something? Maybe expired? Maybe the affected lights lost internet connectivity? Because those effects require the LIFX Cloud still.

I have created a new token on LIFX and removed the old one, restarted the app nothing still, this effect is super dead! :frowning: thy works fine in the the app but not this effect, all works fine everywhere else like HomeKit or LIFX app, but that is not cloud I know…

Can I see cloud status somewhere in the LIFX app for iOS?

Anymore ideas?

Edit!

Think I have find the problem!!

Edit: 2
It works! It had drop the connection to the cloud! Just that lamp… mabey I should had check that first before reaching out :see_no_evil: anyway thanks for the help

I have been unable to add any of my Lifx lights with the Lifx LAN app.

The lights are on a different subnet than the homey.

The Homey is on the same subnet as Homeassistant where the lights with LAN control are working without issue, the firewall rule was modified to allow port 56700 for the Homey device.

mDNS is enabled on both VLANs, I am at a loss because all other devices can see these lights on the LAN protocol from the primary VLAN where the Homey Pro is.

The networks are not isolated from each other except for other firewall rules, to block port access to known ports on the primary network.

When I couldn’t get it working with Lan, I tried the homey lifx app (cloud) which works but is stupidly slow about 10 seconds when on the phone (official lifx app) takes 1 second or less.

I raised a diagnostic report code as below

Hi,
There are no errors in your log of the app. It would seem that broadcast messages are not getting though. I don’t know how HA implements it. The Homey app however is using broadcast messages. Maybe those are getting filtered/blocked. Port should be the same.

Thanks for this app!
Any update on supporting the new A21 lights?

Prolly coming Feb. no promises though.

Looking forward to it! The cloud app has been so unreliable for me. I’m hoping the local one would help.

@Philippe_El_Asmar and everyone who might concern this.

Test Update v2.1.0

If you have missing lights which cannot be paired with the LIVE version of the app, please try out the current test version from here: LIFX (LAN) | Homey

This update entails:

  • Update products catalogue as of state of 2025-04-27
  • Removal of LIFX Switch
I decided on doing this because it causes massive instability of the app if an LIFX Switch is on the network. However, I currently cannot implement proper support for them because LIFX ceased business in Europe a while ago and has not yet expanded back to us over here.

@Shakesbeard if you find some time maybe you can assist me with this: 891b6081-920d-4438-af24-e37debe39002

@Shakesbeard Thanks for reaching out. I’m pretty sure my setup is allowing broadcasting but i need to look into it.

I saw reason 1 for ā€œno devices show for pairingā€. Could you please explain this?

I currently have my bulbs setup in the lifx iOS App and they are connected/added to the cloud and to homekit. is this a problem?

One other question, i added the API developer key to the settings, how can i use your App with cloud?

Thank you for your time

No that is unlikely. The uses a unique device identifier now which will allow pairing to different apps on homey without interfering.
It is probably network reachability issue in your case.

Ok so i made use of my second ethernet port on my NAS and i can find mostly all bulbs. some show bad wifi signal in the config some are not found at all, even they are in the same subnet like the others.

Before i made use of the 2nd port i tried a plugin for homebridge that let me configure direct ip’s and or routing settings. That worked great but i’d like to have it in homey. so for now my only problem is that some bulbs are not showing up.

By not showing up, do you mean not even showing up in the settings page of the app or not showing up for pairing?
Can you send me a private message with a screenshot of you the devices list in your app settings page of the app if there are devices with ? after the name?
Also if connectivity is bad on some bulbs have you tried just waiting a while for them to be found?
