[APP][Pro] Amazon - Alexa

I’ve heard that there is a smart speaker that works locally from what I understand but it’s only for home assistant. Hopefully in the future something comes up. For now I’ll be setting up this app as a primary for announcements. Then the echo app for critical announcements as a backup. Depending on how pricing is during the Black Friday sales I’ll look into some Sonos speakers.

Sounds like you’re doing ok now and found homey to make life easier..

During covid was when I started to push to make my home smarter as well as improve my home wifi and security. Did a lot of research and ended up with homey. Just the fact if a family member or friend wanted something similar and not too hard to set up then I can recommend it. With all the updates and devices supported to suit my needs is a no brainer.

I’ll continue to test this app over the weekend and have a look around.

That’s odd. I haven’t had Alexa or Amazon echo homey apps disconnect that frequently. I’d say maybe once or twice a day but it recovers most of the time. It’s only up until a couple of days ago that it stopped working.

My Alexa stopt working after the update before the last one. At first i thought it was because i had bought another echo dot. But then i saw this thread and noticed it wasn’t my doing. But still after the latest update of the Homey firmware and the update of Jamie version 6.0.1 my Echo Dot still looses its connection.

I had the same issue, it got very annoying to reconnect 10 echo devices across two homies every 20 minutes, or tried to use one in a flow. i just spent 2 days moving them all over to the Amazon Echo app and everything is working perfectly again.

My Homey to Alexa integration stopped working a couple days/a week ago. Usually this happens after homey updates and I just have to restart the app or reconnect. This time restarting does not fix it and reconnecting is giving an “error is not defined” error before going to a login prompt.

Does anyone know if there is a workaround?

I know you’re already working on this issue — I’ve sent you a diagnostic report in case it helps:

Yes, the app disconnects consistently and systematically upon restart.

Same here

Cannot connect to any server, having been working for months fine.

switch to the Amazon Echo app its more stable and working

That’s what I did as well.

BUT, I just been disconnected there as well.

Seems to be definitely an Amazon issue :frowning:

fingers crossed mine stays, I just spent 2 days moving it all over to the echo app and fixing my flows.

Yeah, took me few hours to change my flows as well

Hopefully both apps will get back to how it’s been before :folded_hands:t3:

I have the same issue, too. Alexa App disconnects, after some seconds. Yesterday I changed to the Echo App, spend some hours to change all flows. And in the begin I thought, yes…its working…

But this morning, the Echo App was disconnected, too… :sob:

Btw, my Homeassistant has also problems with the connection, should be a Amazon issue, definitely.

Hi Jamie

Any news by any chance ?

The problem with Home Assistant was just a missing update. After updating, the Alexa integration works again. It appears to be an error with Homey or the apps after all.

Very interesting indeed

Hello again

So I guess quite a few people here shifted their Echo devices to the echo app and spent a lot of time doing so….

But now even that echo app keeps on disconnecting my devices like every few hours or so…

That’s really disappointing….

Also there seem to be similar problems with other apps like Blink, Tado and TP link Casa.

Really annoying as everything used to work flawless before

Today, I transferred some of my simpler flows to HomeAssistant using the Alexa Integration. I’ll let them run for a few days to see if they’re stable. If I don’t get any error messages, I think it is a Homey or Echo/Alexa App problem. If that turns out to be the case, it will be the start of my long-planned move to HomeAssistant. Until now, I’ve been putting off reprogramming the many flows I’ve created on Homey over the last 7 years. But Home Assistant has been running in parallel for last 3 years now, all new flows have been created there for the last year, and it’s been running very stably so far. My entire PV control system has been running via HA for a year now, completely error-free. And I’m getting more and more annoyed with Homey.

Would be nice to get a Feedback from Athom.

They are most probably following here I suppose.

Cause when I accidentally posted an answer in German language within an english speaking discussion I got a message within an hour to please translate my answer into English as it was an English spoken conversation.
