I’m glad to hear that your system is back to business
Unfortunately I’m still not able to re-connect to the server.
I guess you are using the echo app. I’m apparently using the Alexa app. I heard they are actually using the same login protocols so I don’t know why I’m not able to re-connect🤷🏼
just to confirm are you using the Amazon Echo app? we’re talking about the Alexa app. I haven’t had any issues so far with the Amazon Echo app yet but its still early days.
I’ll likely have both the Alexa app and Amazon Echo homey app running. I’ll use the Amazon Echo app if my announcements fails or it loses connection to Amazon.
the reason why i went with echo speakers is at the time i got all of them they were really cheap to cover my house, garage and backyard. the sonos app is reliable but its just way too expensive buy to cover my house, garage and backyard. hopefully the upcoming black friday sales i can get maybe 1 or 2 if im lucky and that should be ok to use as a backup.
Great news, Toby!
The only thing I don’t understand is, if they’re using the same system, why does one keep not working while the other solves all the problems?
there’s a slight difference between them. this one can add different devices whereas the Amazon Echo has the option for only Echo devices and groups. you will see that on the app page. i suspect the code will differ.
Thanks for your message!
Actually, the reason I chose the Echo app is quite simple…. I only have one Echo Show device, and after trying the other app first, I noticed it didn’t update the song titles or album covers in real time. This one has always worked perfectly.
same here but after using alexa i bought a smartthings hub and then a homey pro. as much as i love to tinker with things i just dont have the time and patience to set up a smart home with home assistance.
same for me. this was running great so far. i’ve even set up flows to restart and log back onto the app. couldnt really complain as there wasnt any other options at the time.
i did try the echo app at the time it came out. i was only really testing for stability as at times i forget to log back onto my alexa app even with the notifications. then i wonder why my notifications arent working at home. i didnt notice much of a difference but then again i didnt add all my amazon echo devices to homey via the amazon echo app.
i would love if there was a smart speaker that just runs locally.
It would be great to have a smart speaker that works locally, but at the moment, if we’re looking for something along the lines of Alexa or Google Home, I believe it’s very difficult due to the hardware limitations of these devices
