What is Amazon waiting for to create an official app for Homey Pro?
so far for me its been working also and its been a solid couple of days. didnt see anything come up in my timeline as I’ve got some flows set up for errors, reconnecting, etc.
im located in australia.
How do you set up a flow to show errors ?
Its a when card under the alexa app. i have it show in my timeline. you could also have it send a notification to the homey app on your phone. it can flood you with notifications hence why i’ve left it in my timeline. so i would suggest that you find what works best in terms of notifying you as it can get annoying.
i’ve also got another flow to play a sound on one of my echo speakers. if it fails, it will try and reconnect. if it fails to reconnect it will restart the alexa app.

I found a temporary solution to the problem. First, I reset the Homey Pro to factory settings and then restored a backup that included Alexa version 6.0.2. After that, I disabled the automatic update mechanism and updated the app manually.
Following these steps, I was able to use Alexa again. However, when restarting the Alexa app, it kept crashing. To fix this, I repeated the entire process. Since then, the Alexa app has been working normally, and I’ve been able to use it without issues for several days.
Thx, really apriciate that ![]()
It seems the following pattern is repeating itself:
Every morning I find that the connection to Amazon Alexa is down. Then it can’t be re-established throughout the day.
And in the evening, German time, the connection is suddenly available again.
“Groundhog Day.”
I don’t know when the login and password prompt should normally appear. But I’m not getting that screen at the moment, just the message “Undefined error.” When does the Amazon login screen appear? When installing the Alexa app, or only after clicking “Configure”?
Current diagnostic code: 71f81386-36f3-475c-8114-5e577304127f
Normally after [click to Connect]-Button. So, at the point where the error now appears
checking my timeline for errors it appears that this app has stopped working and unable to authenticate as per this error: Connection error: Error: Proxy Server could not be initialized. Check Logs.
restarting the alexa app didnt do much. Getting the same error again as before when trying to connect ‘ error: error is not defined’. least this it hasnt crashed straight away. i’ll continue to monitor to see if it recovers later tonight. i’ve also noticed that i was also able to connect again at night.
Hey Jamie ![]()
We haven’t heard from you for some time.
Could you please let us know if there is a chance that this app will function again ?
Is this app still under your maintenance?
You most probably have your reasons if that’s not the case.
But please let us know what’s going on.
Thank you ![]()
I reached out to Anthom support about the possible firmware root cause. They noted it’s a community app issue and “Judging by the frequency of updating the app, I think the issue you have reported will soon be addressed”. No real insight as to why they think that or what’s going on, no interest in looking at a debug log. Nothing. Not their app, they seemingly could care less. Disappointing.
I appreciate the effort made by community developers to create these integrations. But if that’s they only effort being made to fix things and Anthom wants to be this hands off, Home Assistant is looking better and better as there is a larger community if that’s where future support will come from, IMHO.
Hi Austin,
I’m 100% with you on this. It’s really quite something, and it confirms a lot of the opinions people have been voicing over the past few years. It feels like the only goal now is maximizing cashflow. The original idea — creating a cool, easily accessible system that’s compatible with almost all manufacturers — no longer seems to be a priority.
For me, the decision is made. I’m now gradually migrating my flows. The most important ones, especially those using Alexa notifications, have already been moved over in the past few days, and the rest will follow step by step. I even managed to convince my wife after building her a nice dashboard.
The only reason I’ll keep Homey for a little while is for external access through the app. I haven’t yet decided whether I’ll go with the Home Assistant subscription, a VPN solution, or simply keep using Homey for remote control.
A small tip for those planning to do the same: use the Node-RED integration. It’s almost identical to Homey’s Advanced Flows — I honestly think Athom may have taken some inspiration there, since from what I’ve read, Node-RED has been around much longer.
The official Amazon app for Home Assistant is just as unstable as Homey’s, but the one for Node-RED runs extremely reliably. The initial setup is a bit tricky, but there are YouTube tutorials, or you can just ask an AI to walk you through it.
In general, AI is the real key to Home Assistant. It’s incredibly easy to just describe what you want, and it will generate the automation for you.
So did I…
They told me the Alexa app is none of their business as it’s a community app. ![]()
I asked them why they don’t develop their own Alexa app as, obviously, a lot of people are using it….
“Nothing planned” they said ![]()
If you really need Alexa integration use this Amazon Echo | Homey Its been solid for the last two weeks I have been using it. Ok you probably looked at it and thought it doesn’t give you the same features as Jamie`s app, but actually it is vey powerful at running commands ect and I cannot find anything that doesn’t meet my needs in this app, you just need to use it differently. I have migrated everything over and its been rock solid. No more checking daily to see if Alexa is alive!
HO Kevin,
be glad that it runs stable for you.
On my system, the Amazon Echo integration is just as unstable. Well, at least I can still log in and establish a new connection — that’s no possible at all with the Alexa integration. But even so, I keep losing the connection again after a short time.
I think it has something to do with Amazon. As I said, the official Alexa integration in Home Assistant is also unstable. Similar to the Amazon Echo app, it loses the connection several times a day, but then restores it on its own.
And the Node-RED version runs completely stable. In the last two weeks I haven’t had a single connection drop there.
My Homey is running absolutely reliably. I see no reason to switch to anything else!
And I agree with Kevin Hunt: Everything works perfectly with the Amazon Echo app; it functions flawlessly, just as expected.
Hello
what amazon equipments (show, dot, etc…) are recognized by the amazon echo apllication
thank
