Anyone here using YouTube Premium with Homey automations?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using Homey for a while now to automate a few things around the house (lights, speakers, routines, etc.), and recently I started wondering if YouTube Premium can fit into the setup in any useful way.

For example, I sometimes play music or long videos on YouTube through smart speakers or my TV, and I’m curious if anyone here has tried integrating that experience with Homey flows. Things like automatically starting playlists, controlling playback through flows, or using it as part of a morning/evening routine.

Since YouTube Premium removes ads and allows background playback, it feels like it could work nicely with automations, but I’m not sure if anyone has actually set it up in a practical way.

So I’m curious:

  • Has anyone connected YouTube (or YouTube Music) with Homey in their automations?

  • Are there any apps, workarounds, or integrations that work well for this?

  • Or do you mainly rely on other services like Spotify for music automations?

With the Chromecast app for Homey, you can cast YouTube to your Chromecast or Android TV. With the RSS app, you can use new videos from specific channels as triggers for your Flows.

i use emby, and deeplink to a playlist, maybe yt can also do this

(android tv app).
