Any solution for measuring energy (gas/water/electricity)

I’m currently searching for a solution to monitor energy and water consumption.
As we still have a 1990’s Instromet gas-meter and a digital non-P1 electricity meter. I want to know what my options are. I prefer to use one brand/gateway that does it all. I already googled a lot of options, but I’m getting lost on the available options. Of course it all needs to work with Homey (Pro 2023).
Does anyone have a similar setup, or knows which device(s) work best for this situation?
I’m very glad to hear if anyone has an idea!

Thanks in advance!

Hi David,

We don’t have a P1 port on the KWh meter. So how can I use the Homey P1 meter for this specific case?

Hey Roy,
From reading a few other topics that you started, I can tell from some screenshots that you live in The Netherlands. So my advice is to just go the website of your network operator and request a new meter. This is free, and very easy to do. Network operators are very willing to help out with this as they probably already sent you, or the previous owners multiple letters to do so. You can then just use a cheap P1 meter like the homewizard for just 25,-.
If you want a smart meter, the easiest solution is to just get a smart meter!

That’s correct, I live in the Netherlands indeed.
The letters indeed got passed us. But the previous owner actively refused the smart KWh meter. As the smart KWh meter didn’t got placed, they also don’t feel the need for replacing the old Instromet as it doesn’t have any benefits when there’s no smart meter in place.

But thanks for the headsup. It’s indeed way cheaper to have a P1 device then to install optical readers and needed gateway device for 300+ and have the meters replaced next 10 years…

For energy meter you can use Youless (at the IR interface) I think.

For gas meter you could use a reed sensor. Many meters have a magnet at one of the numbers (the one with a blank mirroring part).

Your Elster water meter might work with the HomeWizard water meter. Check compatibility on this page.
