I beginning to wonder I made the wrong choice choosing the Homey platform. With the exception of Philips hue and (amazingly) Logitech Hub, every other thing I’ve tried to add has been a catastophic failure! For instance, I have a Tuya device tht I want to add and after reading many queries and going through setting up a Tuya Developer account, because apparently that’s what I have to do, after trying various permutations I still can’t get the damn thing to work! I decided to put that aside and try a different device. I have a Broadlink RM Max ir blaster… Guess what, I added the only app available in Homey and that doesn’t have my model! Stymied yet again. I thought the Homey Platform was supposed to be moderately easy to use. So far I’ve had nothing but frustration. Sorry for the rant, but I really needed to vent after days of frustration. If anyone can offer any solutions, I would be eternally greatful.
Thanks in advance.
It seem the RM Max was added to the latest test version of the Broadlink app. You can install it via this link to the Homey App Store: Broadlink | Homey.
FYI - Click the test button in the change log on the app’s page in the Homey App Store, to switch from the live version’s app page to the test version’s:
Is your Tuya device WiFi or Zigbee based?
Thanks Sunbeach! Maybe, finally a step in the right direction
Which Tuya app are you using? With the app, you can simply log in with the Tuya account (without a developer profile). Tuya | Homey
Hi Patrickske! Thanks for the reply! I’m using the most recent homey tuya app, I’ve also tried with both the community ones, cloud and local. All I get is a message saying there are no new devices to install. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled all the apps repeatedly as well as reinstalling the app on my phone and re-linking it to the developer website project. Nothing I try appears to work. As you can probably imagine it’s becoming very frustrating…
In the official Tuya app, does it find your device when you add it as an ‘Other’ type?
Oh! Not tried that! I’ll give that a go tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks
