Xiaomi MI LED Desk Lamp 1S in Homey

Hi

I have a few Xiaomi MI LED Desk Lamp 1S that I would like to have in Homey Pro, but can’t find any solution.

Did someone manage to get them added?

You can try it using a virtual device (choose the type “Kettle“, that’s the only type that works with Google Home for some reason). Create a virtual device, then set up the Xiaomi Mi Home service inside Google Home, also set up the Homey service in Google Home. Then, you can use Google Home automations to make the real device control the virtual device and vice versa.

Thanks, but no Google Home here :face_with_peeking_eye:

You don’t need a Google Home device. You just need to install the Google Home app on your phone.

I see, thanks!

Maybe a bit complicated for 3 lamps.

And wil ll it work when I’m not at home? Isn’t it running locally on my phone so other in the house can’t control it when I’m away?

:folded_hands:t2:

No, Google Home runs in the cloud. You need to connect both Homey and Xiaomi to Google Home, and then create a virtual device in Homey. You can then create automations in Google Home:

When:
Desk lamp turned on
Then:
Turn on virtual device

When:
Desk lamp turned off
Then:
Turn off virtual device

When:
Virtual device turned on
Then:
Turn on desk lamp

When:
Virtual device turned off
Then:
Turn off desk lamp

This keeps the virtual device in sync with the real device, and makes it possible to integrate it with Homey

Will try, thanks!

Hmm …
No luck - must be missing something.
I have added both Homey and Xiaomi to Google Home.

Made the automations you mentioned, but nothing.
I can control the light in Google Home, but nothing reflects to Homey.

Any good advice?

Have you enabled Sync with Google? You can enable it in the Homey mobile app: More→Settings→Google Assistant. Make sure the “Sync with Google“ toggle is enabled.

I didn’t do that :-1:
But have now - changes nothing.
Should I do anything else in Homey?

Works now!
But really slow?

Yes, it can be slow. A command has to be sent from Homey to the Athom cloud, then to the Google cloud to run the automation, then to the Xiaomi cloud and then it finally reaches the lamp. And most of these “hops” are cross-network (all are likely on a different cloud provider) and maybe even in different countries. But it’s a great solution when it’s not supported by Homey natively.

Yes, better than not being able to control them.

Thank you very much for your great help!
