Why does SHS uses the bridge as antenna's?

I don’t get it..

I understand that athom want to sure it works and keeps working, but why use an old fashion zigbee chipset…..

I really hope they release a new improved bridge soon or add 3th party antenna options to SHS..

You can apparently use a Sonoff Dongle Max and get Zigbee 3.0 or Thread if that’s what you need. Personally, I’m not planning to add a controller to my SHS. I’ve been using both Z2M and the Home Assistant community app to bring entities into Homey. This works incredibly well and you can then use any controller that HA supports, and both platforms can take advantage of it.

i know you can use 3th party controllers to get zigbee, but what I meant was without any other controllers, so native zigbee as how it was designed.

It is just strange they even released the bridge with this old zigbee setup and that they release a nice product (SHS) but with with bad native zigbee setup…

One can only wait and see. I don’t imagine their long-term plan is to do nothing

Having worked with another hub manufacturer in the past, I can tell you this is a very lenghtly process to test, squash the bugs and then get new controllers certified for release.

In regard to third-party controllers, they have already stated they don’t want to support direct integration. You can listen from 31:40 to better understand their position - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB9yb7CW58c&list=PLbIEwfYFMhVl6znUfjngj85XcT25acfvh&index=1
