Hi everyone,
I recently came across a video showing how Home Assistant handles remotes via a tool called “Switch Manager” (Instagram link: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVJfmK9AtGu/ | GitHub: https://github.com/Sian-Lee-SA/Home-Assistant-Switch-Manager).
It basically gives you a GUI/Visual representation of the remote, and you just click the button on the screen to assign an action (Short press, hold, double tap, etc.).
Right now in Homey, setting up a multi-button remote (like an IKEA Tradfri or Aeotec WallMote) feels very tedious. You have to create separate flows or use “Advanced Flow” with a bunch of logic lines for every single button and press type. It gets cluttered and hard to manage very quickly.
Does anyone know if there is a Homey app that attempts this visual approach? If not, I think this would be a massive “Quality of Life” improvement for the Homey Pro. Imagine just clicking a picture of your remote to assign your dimming and color scenes!
What do you guys think? Is the current Flow system enough, or is it time for a dedicated “Remote/Switch Manager” UI?
