Virtual Devices not visible to Google Automations

I’m a new user and am coming from Google home. I have the device synch working between Homey and Google. I can make virtual outlet devices in Homey and set them as controlling a kettle or fan to force an on/off button. These devices synch to Google and toggling the power button seems to work. However, when I go into Google Automations, these virtual devices do not appear there as devices to trigger a Google automation.

What am I doing wrong?

My objective is to have a Homey flow trigger a Google automation to launch a play list in YouTube music. The Google Chromecast app in Homey doesn’t seem to let me do it directly from the homey side. I’m trying to have a flow that effectively emulates me saying something like “ok Google, play top hits from the 80s”.

Don’t know if this is helpfull but you can make a start to start flows on Homey with Google home.

You need to select the device type “Kettle” when creating your virtual device, because the other device types don’t show up in Google Home

Indeed, use the ‘kettle’ device type.

I have tried making devices of type kettle as well as fan and neither one works. They show up as devices in Google home’s main devices list but they are not there as triggers to launch Google automations.

It just got stranger. I was able to create a virtual socket and set it to have a kettle plugged into it. This device successfully synchs and can be toggled from Homey or Google Home. I’ve been at this stage multiple times

This time though, this device actually appears as a device that can trigger a Google automation in the trigger list. I can set the automation to fire when the socket is on. The new problem is that the automation won’t trigger when the socket is turned on from either the Google or the homey side. I can manually trigger the automation and it works but it is not seeing the socket change state to ON.

I’m so close…argh.
