Using Futurehome thermostat in Homey bridge

Hi,
I switched from Futurhome hub to Homey bridge with my Futurehome thermostats. They have manual mode, “home” mode and “away” mode. With Futurehome app in Homey I can switch between these modes, but can I also set the “home” and “away” temperature via Homey? So far when I set the temperature in Homey the thermostat switches back to manual mode.

Greetings,
Ed

Hi and welcome to Homey!

I also recently switched from Futurehome to Homey. I don’t have the FH thermostat myself, but I use a similar one with the same modes.

Homey doesn’t come with predefined “modes” like Futurehome, but you can easily create your own using Flows or Advanced Flows

From what I’ve experienced when you adjust the temperature directly from Homey, the thermostat usually switches to manual mode since you’re “manual" forcing it to a specific temperature. That’s how mine behaves as well.

Here are a few ways you can control or adjust the thermostat with Homey:

  1. Create flows that adjust the temperature based on your status (Home/Away/Sleep, etc.).
  2. Create flows that turn the thermostat on or off depending on whether you’re Home/Away/Sleep, etc.
  3. Create a flow that sets the thermostat to predefined modes Home or Away (with the temperatures predefined directly on the thermostat) when you’re Home/Away.
  4. Manually adjust the temperature on the thermostat itself.

For the Home/Away modes, you can set up a flow that automatically puts the thermostat in Away mode when Homey detects that no one is home — and vice versa. You can also use this trigger to change the temperature or toggle the thermostat on/off.
(How to use Home/Away/Sleep status in Homey.)

Here’s an example flow showing three different options (Then flow cards) for controlling the thermostat:

It looks like the FH thermostat has the same flow cards:

Hope this helps you get started with thermostat control in Homey!

@ user3951: Thanks a lot for your assistance! So it seems that Homey cannot directly address the temperature settings stored with AWAY and HOME mode. Astonished a bit and I can live with that.

Happy to help!

If I understand you correctly, you’re looking to adjust the temperature settings for the thermostat based on its own Home/Away mode?

Are you certain you were able to do this from the hub when you had the FH hub? According to the Futurehome support page, it’s only possible to change these settings directly on the thermostat itself — not via the hub.

If the FH thermostat was a Z-Wave device (like the one I have), then it’s possible to modify most of the advanced configuration parameters by sending commands via Z-Wave😏

If you want you could suggest this to the developers, there’s a “Suggestion” button on the Futurehome Homey app page where you can do that.

In the meantime, I recommend adjusting the thermostat with “set temp” or “on/off” using a flow or a virtual mode button. That way, you can also add time schedules for heating, and control other devices like lights at the same time😉

Since community apps and virtual devices aren’t supported on Homey Bridge, you’ll need to rely on flows to manage Home/Away/Sleep modes. Alternatively, you could experiment with adding virtual devices using this workaround.

Adding a related tread for FH termostat controlling.
